Reflection in the mirror

"Do you want me to be labeled as a husband who pretends to be kind to his wife?" Canillas commented, raising one of his brows. "Many eyes have seen me carry this trunk. What will they think of me if you ask one of them to help you carry this to your room?" He continued to express his concern, which was surely not his actual concern.

"Did you tell me a lie, Sir Canillas?" Joanna retorted, staring at him with a frown. "Didn't you say that you don't care what others say about you?"

Canillas shrugged his shoulders before replying, "I didn't lie. I don't care what people say about me or about me choosing you as my wife. But not if I'm labeled as a husband who pretends to be kind and attentive to his wife while in reality..." Canillas took a pause, lingering his gaze on Joanna's face, before resuming to say, "I believe you know what kind of husband I am to you."
