Lily's POV
3 years ago- 10pm
I was out at the club, dancing away to the pulsating beat of the music, when I noticed him. He stood across the dimly lit room, his eyes locked onto mine. With a sly wink, he started making his way through the sea of people towards me. In that moment, I knew my night was about to take an unexpected turn.
I quickly turned to my friends and told them I'd catch up with them later. They exchanged knowing glances and, with playful nudges, made their way toward the exit. Alone now, I turned back to the mysterious stranger who had piqued my curiosity.
I approached him and asked, "What's your name?"
He smiled, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. "Josh," he replied, the word rolling smoothly off his tongue.
My next question was more direct, a test of his availability. "Are you single?" I inquired, my gaze steady.
Josh leaned in closer, his warm breath brushing against my ear as he whispered, "Does it matter?"
I chuckled at his response, recognizing the playful tone. "Well, yes," I said with a grin. "It does."
With a subtle grin, Josh let out a sigh as if he was about to reveal a secret. "Alright," he confessed, "I broke up with my girlfriend about a month ago."
In that dark, crowded club, our paths had crossed, and a connection sparked between us.
He asked me if he could drive me home, concern in his eyes. I replied that my parents were at home, and he swiftly countered with an offer for me to stay at his place for the night. My judgment was clouded by the electrifying chemistry between us, and without a second thought, I agreed.
Looking back, I now see how naive I was.
As we arrived at his place, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation. The connection we'd felt at the club was undeniable, and it didn't take long for things to escalate. We kissed passionately, our bodies entangled in a whirlwind of desire, until we couldn't resist each other any longer.
That night, we crossed a line, giving in to our intense attraction. It was an intoxicating mix of emotions and physicality that left me feeling elated and delusional. Little did I know that this impulsive decision would set in motion a series of events that would forever alter the course of my life.
As I lay there in the dimly lit room, entangled with a boy whose name I'd just learned, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead. The consequences of our actions were still unknown, but the exhilaration of that night had etched itself into my memory, marking the beginning of a complicated journey filled with twists and turns I could never have anticipated.
From that fateful night, I found myself entangled in a whirlwind romance with Josh. Our rendezvous became a regular occurrence, though limited to three times a week due to his demanding football practice schedule. But it was enough to leave me craving more of his attention.
He had a way of drawing me in, sometimes showing up at my doorstep in the late hours, like a secretive lover, just for a passionate make-out session. Other times, he'd whisk me away from the club scene, escorting me to his place where we'd drown our sorrows in alcohol before surrendering to the undeniable chemistry that bound us together.
It might have seemed reckless to an outsider, but I didn't mind the chaotic nature of our situation . I thrived on the intensity of our encounters, relishing every stolen moment with Josh. It was the attention he lavished on me that I found irresistible, and I willingly embraced the excitement and unpredictability that came with being his company.
So he invited me to dinner that night.

Steph's POV
My relationship with Josh was becoming more challenging by the day. It felt like we were drifting apart, and my suspicions of his infidelity were eating away at me. His increasingly scarce visits, mainly limited to just two nights a week due to his football commitments, left me feeling lonely and neglected.
What hurt me even more was the way we handled our arguments. Every disagreement seemed to follow the same pattern – he'd storm off and drown his sorrows in alcohol. It was like our fights had become a trigger for him to seek solace at the bottom of a bottle, leaving me frustrated and hurt.
I loved him, but the strain on our relationship was becoming unbearable. I needed to talk to him, to find out what was really going on, and to salvage whatever was left of our love before it crumbled completely.
So he invited me for dinner that night.

PRESENT DAY
Bea's POV
Listening to Lily's story about Josh's past behavior, I couldn't help but feel a whirlwind of emotions. I was sad and shocked, learning about the way he had treated both Lily and Steph, essentially juggling two relationships. It was painful to think that the person I loved had been capable of such actions.
But as Lily's words sunk in, a creeping doubt began to take hold. Could it be possible that every time Josh got drunk now, he was repeating those same patterns? My mind was filled with a confusing mix of emotions – anger, betrayal, and a deep sense of insecurity. I needed to confront Josh about this and find out the truth. Our relationship deserved an honest conversation, even if it meant facing some uncomfortable facts.
As we got off from the plane, Steph approached me and Lily, her face etched with curiosity. She asked how our time together was during the flight. Lily chimed in and said, "I told her."
Steph looked puzzled and questioned, "Told her what?"
I hesitated, then gathered my thoughts and replied, "About Josh." Steph immediately enveloped me in a comforting hug, and with a reassuring tone, she said, "Don't worry, Bea."
But I couldn't help but respond, "I can't help but worry." The weight of what I had learned from Lily about Josh's past actions still hung heavily on my heart, casting a shadow of doubt over our relationship.
And guess who's behind me? Josh.
As Josh greeted me with his charming smile, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. His casual, affectionate demeanor masked the irritation I felt inside. I gave him a half-hearted smile and a quick hug, but my mind was still racing with the recent revelations from Lily about his past.
Steph gave me a knowing look, understanding the weight of my concerns. She whispered softly, "We'll talk about this later." I nodded, appreciating her support, but I knew that sooner or later, I had to confront Josh about what I had learned.
As our taxi's arrival neared, everyone had ventured off to grab some snacks, leaving just Josh and me alone. With a sense of concern, he broke the silence, asking, "Are you okay?"
I tried to put on a brave face, replying with a casual, "I'm fine."
Josh's tone shifted slightly, growing more intense. He raised his voice and implored, "Don't fucking do this, Bea."
I looked at him, puzzled, and inquired, "Do what?"
His frustration was evident as he retorted, "Don't shut me out. I care about you."
I couldn't help but let out a sarcastic laugh and responded, "Now you care about me." The tinge of bitterness in my voice betrayed the hurt I felt.

Josh's POV
The villa was beautiful, and the Spanish sun was shining brightly, but my mood didn't quite match the picturesque setting.
Something was wrong, and it weighed heavily on me. Inside, the girls gathered around Bea, who was clearly upset, offering her comfort and reassurance. I wanted to be there for her too, but I couldn't shake this gnawing sense of confusion.
Lily was here too, and despite our history, it seemed like she hadn't even noticed me. My mind was preoccupied with the need to talk to Theo, to figure out what was going on. There was a cloud of uncertainty hovering over us, and I couldn't just stand by and watch.
Theo and I had found a quiet spot away from the others. He was puffing on his strawberry ice vape like it was a lifeline, and I couldn't help but chuckle at the irony.
"What's so funny?" he inquired, his lips curling into a bemused smile.
I smirked, my amusement unabated. "The fact that you always try to look so tough, but you're literally smoking a candy cane."
His laughter joined mine, breaking the tension that had been lingering between us. After a moment, he asked the inevitable question, "So, what's on your mind, Josh?"
I sighed, knowing that I needed to get this off my chest. "It's Bea," I admitted, my voice tinged with concern.
Theo raised an eyebrow. "Bea? What about her?"
I hesitated, searching for the right words. "I don't know, man. Lately, she's been distant, and it's been bothering me."
He took another drag from his candy-flavored vape before responding. "Distant? How?"
I recounted the scene in the plane, how she'd shut me out, and how much it had been gnawing at me. "I tried talking to her, but she just... she doesn't want to open up."
Theo nodded in understanding. "Sometimes, people need their space, you know? But if you care about her, give her time, and she'll come around."
His words struck a chord with me, making me reflect on the dynamics of our relationships. Then, he asked, "Are you happy with Bea, Josh?"
I paused, my mind wandering to the complicated web of emotions that had entangled us all. "Yeah, I am," I replied finally. "But I can't help but wonder... do you miss Melanie?"
Theo's gaze turned distant, and he admitted, "Yeah, I do. I miss her, but I'm trying to make things work with Grace."
The question still lingered in the air, unspoken but heavy with meaning: do you miss Lily?

Bea's POV
As I settled into my own room, purposely far away from Josh, I couldn't shake the heaviness that had settled between us. The group chat was buzzing with messages from all of us, discussing our evening plans. Ryan, in his usual cheeky style, asked Jess, "What are you wearing tonight?"
Jess swiftly responded with a picture of her outfit, and she looked absolutely stunning.
Compliments from the girls poured in, each one appreciating her choice.
Next up was Lily, and she shared her outfit picture.
The chat erupted in praise, everyone agreeing she looked amazing.
Then, Steph posted her ensemble,
and the consensus was that she looked incredibly hot.
Melanie's friend, Bella, joined the fashion show by sending her own picture,
earning compliments on her pretty appearance. Finally, it was Melanie's turn,
and we all cooed at how cute she looked.
Then came Grace's message,
and she sent a photo that Theo had taken of her earlier on. It was a sweet, candid shot, capturing her natural beauty. The chat filled with admiration and heart emojis.
Curious eyes turned to me, and I decided to join in the fun.
I snapped a picture of myself in my carefully chosen outfit and sent it along. The messages started rolling in, filled with compliments and heart emojis.
For a moment, it felt like the weight of our complicated relationships had lifted, and we were just a group of friends getting ready for a night out.
I kept walking with the rest of the group, trying to ignore the uneasiness between Josh and me. Bella's joke about having more male friends had lightened the mood momentarily, but it was impossible to completely forget the weight of our unresolved issues.
Josh tapped me on the shoulder, his voice barely audible in the midst of our friends' chatter. "Can we talk?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern.
I hesitated for a moment, torn between addressing our problems and trying to maintain some normalcy during our trip. Finally, I replied, "There's no need to."
As I continued walking, I heard Josh's frustrated voice behind me, shouting, "Don't be so fucking annoying!" But I chose to keep moving forward, hoping that in time, we'd find a way to navigate the issues of our relationship.

Melanie's POV
We were in the club now, the vibrant Spanish nightlife surrounding us.
It felt a bit lonely being one in our group. Bella was already dancing enthusiastically with some guy she had met, and Steph and Lily were off doing shots together. I found myself scanning the crowded dance floor, searching for Theo.
Then, I heard his voice from behind me, and my heart skipped a beat. "I'm right behind you," he said, his words like a lifeline in the midst of the pulsating music. I turned around, a smile breaking across my face. "I missed you," I admitted, the words escaping my lips before I could even think.
Theo's eyes softened, and he drew closer. "I missed you too," he confessed, his voice barely audible over the thumping bass. "Let's go outside."
I nodded, feeling a rush of anticipation. Maybe, just maybe, this trip to Spain held the possibility of something more than just friendship between us.
Just this once.
