NOTE: I'm truly very sorry about the delay in the release of this chapter. Been so preoccupied lately
"How did she get it?" she asked.
No response.
"I asked, how did she get it?" She nearly brought down the roof at that.
"You talking to me?"
"Why of course I'm talking to you, who else did you see here?" She said between her teeth, clenched.
"You?"
Her eyes flashed with contained rage.
"Well, I definitely have no idea what you're talking about"
"Don't try to play smart with me, kid"
"I have no idea what 'it' is and... wait, did you just call me kid?!"
"Dear boy, I have no time for your little games. My patience is running out"
Dave had been seated, one knee up, the other leg down. Then he stood suddenly making her jolt slightly.
"Look here lady, I am no kid. I myself have no time for stupid little games. I have a whole research waiting for me back home and here I am, stuck in the middle of nowhere with no clue as to where my best friend is...and you're here, asking me about some 'it' thing"
Dave certainly seemed mad while she seemed...taken aback; must have felt like a slap on the face.
"I understand your pain child, really I do but you see, we're talking danger here. She's got the powers of a demon..."
"Oh, so this is about some...powers?"
"You aren't taking me seriously, are you? We're talking danger here! There are lives to protect! Any mishap and she could cause the Apocalypse and not even you could be saved"
Dave clapped a few times then said, "Wonderful! An amazing narrator you'd make. I wonder just how gullible you really think I am"
"You really..."
"Stop this webilicious blabbering of yours," It was Dave's turn to nearly bring down this universe in fact.
"Webilicious? Is that even a word? Can't you be serious for once"
"How long have you known me that you're asking me to be serious for once?" Dave moved closer to her then narrowed his eyes, "Look me up straight lady, I know your true intentions"
She narrowed her eyes back at him and said, "You dare me boy, you dare me"
"You don't look much older than I am so don't you refer to me as kid, child or boy again, understood?" Then he turned his back on her and started walking back to his original spot.
"You've got some nerve," she said, her eyes still narrowed at him.
Dave clenched his fists.
"Hmm. So, you feel...entitled to a sense of control, show me how great your will is to survi..."
"Give me back my best friend!!!" he said in rage with a mighty, almost-blinding red blast.
Dave was normally a cool-headed person but this! This was an epic unexpected scene! Most especially because this 'she' much deserved it. Did she really think Dave was a fool?
For a minute, Dave was as surprised as her at this new development. But coming to think of it, was this some parallel universe where we had...powers?
"I was wrong to think you would yield to me," she said recovering from her shock, "and what was that you just did?!"
"Revealing your true colours"
"You have no idea–"
"Much expected"
"Excuse me?"
"Why should I be surprised; selfish and prideful in vain"
"Oh, you will see my true colours" and at that, she started flaming...green?
"I've got a universe to protect, and I won't have you standing up to me. I'm the one in charge here."
"Now who's got the powers of a demon?"
"Mine isn't enough to cause the Apocalypse"
"Bingo!"
She gave him a deathly glare and then lashed out neon green strings at Dave.
"Of course, the web" he said with a hint of sarcasm in his tone and annoyance clearly stated in his voice. He caught the strings in his palm and... burnt them? On the spot!
This only made her flare up the more but for a moment, they both seemed to have been on pause when Dave said, "Wait a minute,". The web! Dave had thought.
"I'm still waiting"
"Never mind that"
Then she gave him a deathly glare, again.
"I'm not taking chances with you, boy". Before Dave could react, she lashed out another string at his ankle and pulled, making him fall backwards.
"Consider this my meantime goodbye," she said as she walked toward him. "I'm giving you two hours to get your head straight and think and when I return, you'd better have a positive answer for me"
***
I saw it all. This space where I was, was somewhat...translucent. The light lit above me somewhat helped, though I still wondered about its source. 'She' seemed to me to be Madula but I couldn't quite tell; remember I said the space I was, was translucent.
But what if 'she' was...Could it be...?
No. I wiped off the thought then focused on finding some way out of this mess.
I found the walls of this space and placed my palms on it. Then there it was again, the glowing light blue light of which my palms were the source.
I stepped back instantly. What kind of sorcery was this? I looked down at my hands, then straight, then up. It was then I noticed the actual colour of the light; it was light neon blue. Then its source swirled down slowly toward me. It was the butterfly!
I stretched out my index finger for the creature to rest on.
"Where were you when we needed you? Why'd you disappear?"
Out of the blue, my phone buzzed. I'd forgotten all about it. I pulled it out of my pocket to see a message. Then something in my mind just clicked. I put my phone back in my pocket, let the butterfly in the air and walked toward the wall and placed my palms on it again.
