Instructor gets a new student

There is a small room with a big desktop computer set up in one corner. The bed is beneath the window and the closet is on the opposite side of the desktop computer. There is something attached to the CPU cable slot. This is a connector for the Arcaea VR Set.

Arcaea VR Set is composed of the latest Headgear equipment created by the Arcaea Company. The same company that published the game Dungeon Hunt. The set up for this equipment is easy. Just insert the cables to the correct slots in the CPU, activate it via Computer, install and select Dungeon Hunt, and wear the helmet and go to bed. To enter the world, simply say the word "System Login".

Sam, the brother of Monarch66, is excited to jump into the other world. The system world. Where everything begins. A panel appears in front of Sam. *Enter your username* Sam already has a game name. He presses the buttons very quickly and the confirm button. The system greets him. *Welcome, King4567*

The panel disappears and five characters appeared in front of him. The first is the Fighter Role. Specialized in Attack and Defense in close quarter combat. Second is the Ranger Role. A role for bow users that fight in the distance. Third is the Mage Role. They are the main roles for Intelligence that dishes out magic attacks against their foes. Fourth is the Monk role. A very fast physical attacker with speed and accuracy. Fifth is the Cleric role. This role are for people who heals others and dishes punishment to their foes.

Sam didn't need to think twice of what he will pick. "Since brother picked Fighter role, I will also pick him." said Sam as he pressed a button in front of the Fighter Class. Sam gets basic leather armor and a basic sword, as well as 500g (gold). "This is exciting." said Sam happily as the light that surrounds him grew as bright as the sun. A loading screen appeared. After the green progress filled the loading bar, the entire surrounding slowly draws the setting of the game. The entrance to the dungeon.

There are alot of new players hanging around the entrance. Some surrounds the teleport portal which is beside the entrance or hang in the forest area. King4567 is jogging around the area, checking out the place. At the left, there seems to be alot of crates lying around. It is guarded by dog people wearing high class armor. There is a small dog that wears a coat and a glasses. "Thank you for your patronage, dear customer." said the dog with a pleasant bow to show appreciation. That dog is the trader of this place.

At the right, players flock there. They are either chatting or discussing something interesting. News about the best players were spread amongst themselves. To the south, there is nothing there. The invisible wall prevents them from exploring further. To the north is the entrance of the dungeon. You can see a large leaderboard posted on the wall for people to see how much progress and achievements did one player get. PvP is the most hot topic in this game.

"What should I do?" asked King4567. A panel appeared in front of him. There are white texts written on it. "Welcome to Dungeon Hunt. To move, simply imagine how you move like in real life. The game is fully integrated to the user's mind thanks to the latest Arcaea VR Set. *Warning: Vulgar Acts such as harassment or public affection is strictly prohibited. Violation will result permanent ban to the user's account*"

After reading that panel, the next panel slides next to the previous panel and shows this text. "Mission: Slay 10 Slimes in Stage 1 Dungeon." King4567 looks ahead and sees an arrow pointing towards inside. This hyped him. He holds his sword now. This basic sword looks like an ordinary shortsword. And it is surprisingly lighter than it seems. His leather armor isn't that cumbersome.

After checking that he is ready, King4567 ventures deep to the dungeons, along with other newbies. The dungeon is a standard cavern with no traps. The layout will be different every maintenance, meaning to have a proper map, you have to explore the dungeon again. The map is an item that appears to be blank. To use it, simply open the map and look at the holographic image shown. The image is the places the user previously visited. "This is handy." thought King4567.

There are five objects a user can see in the map. The green arrow shows the current location of the user. The blue dots are the other users. The yellow dots are the Npcs or possible events that can happen in the area. The red dots are the mobs that the user have to fight. The colored question marks are treasures or item spots colored based on their rarity.

Grey is common - Blue is uncommon - Green is rare - Purple is epic - Orange is legendary

Right now the map shows a big area filled with blue and red dots all over the place. King4567 is currently in the battle area where slimes are spawning. Lots of users fight slimes to clear the quest so that they can advance. King4567's eyes lit up with passion. This will be his first time fighting for real.

"Let's clear this fast." said King4567. He rushes to the battlefield, looking for one isolated slime to fight. He jumps and slams his sword. It hits... the ground. "What the?" asked King4567 in a state of surprised. The slime squishes down and jumps to King4567's stomach. This damaged the total of 10% of his current hp. "Why you!" shouted he as he attempts to hit the slime again. It missed again. Without realizing it, King4567 gets knocked down by a slime.

That is the reason why a party is preferred for the first time users. Most aren't used to swing their weapons. Not only that, King4567 is naturally so bad at using a sword that his Dexterity can't help auto correct his attacks. It will take some time before they eventually find out how to fight slimes properly.

"I'm not done yet." said he as he recovered from being knocked down. He rushes again and doing the exact same thing, hitting the enemy with all he got. He sometimes get lucky hits but not enough to defeat one slime. Others make it seem easy. A panel appeared in front of King4567. It is a message panel from his big brother, Monarch66. It reads:

"Where r u? Cnt c u round here"

King4567 is in tears while he types this message. "Help me pls Im stuck"

A moment later, Monarch66 meets up with King4567. He asked, "Are you still hunting slimes?" King4567 throws a tantrum and shouted, "This game is too hard! Why can't I beat one stupid slime!" Monarch nervously chuckles and said, "Just wait for the slimes to jump towards you and point your sword tip towards it. It works like a charm."

King4567 nods and tries the trick. First, he aggroed the slime by swinging his sword. It is on purpose to attract its attention. The slime did the same attack and jumps toward him. But with the sword on the way, the slime ended up piercing itself. "Slam it to the ground!" ordered Monarch66. Following the order, King4567 bashes the slime barbecue several times to the ground until it gets defeated. It turns into a light that slowly fades and for that, King4567 earns experience for it.

"That was awesome brother!" said King4567 with his eyes shaped like stars. Monarch66 giggles and pats his younger brother's head with pride. "It is basic knowledge in Dungeon Hunt." said Monarch66. This confused King4567. The tutorial simply stated on how to move using the mind of his own. He imagines it hitting the slime but kept missing for some reason. Monarch66 said, "I don't know why but there is a lag between imagining and moving. We don't just move the instant we think we take an action. We just need to practice hitting for real instead of just imagining flashy attacks."

King4567 didn't understand what Monarch66 said. Monarch66 then asked, "Try swinging your sword towards me. Don't worry. I can take it. Don't make it too obvious though." King4567 although confused, humors Monarch66's wishes. Like he was asked to, King4567 swings his sword as fast as he can. But it gets caught one handed by Monarch66 with ease. He is surprised. "I did say you shouldn't make it obvious."

King4567 feels the lag. He swings slower than he imagined. His game avatar does not exactly do what he can imagine. Bending bones or turning his head 360° are physically impossible. Being as fast as a tiger is impossible either. This is why it was very difficult to hit the slimes even though they die easily. "Now I know why you're so good at this game. You're a genius!" said King4567 happily. Monarch66 nervously chuckles.

"Is something wrong?" asked King4567, wondering why Monarch66 seems nervous. "This is the tutorial." said Monarch66. Again with the tutorial. There is nothing explained by the lag. Are they perhaps influenced by stats? They are indeed influenced by stats but that is not the point. The slimes have lower average stats than a level 1 user. But they are still hard to kill. Even in the guidebook released by other users, there is nothing explaining about the lag that happened to King4567.

"I guess even the best players didn't know such lag exists in the first place." said Monarch66.

King4567 continues to kill the slimes the way how Monarch66 taught him. Get the slime's attention. Next wait for it to jump. Then point the sword towards it. And lastly, punish it by slamming them to the ground while they are skewered. Beating 10 slimes is complete around 20 minutes. "Brother, teach me how to fight like you do." asked King4567 with a smile on his face. Monarch66 shakes his head.

King4567 asks why he declines. Monarch66 answered, "You can learn them at the tutorial. I mean you should talk to an Npc living in the dungeon named Lou. He is the tutorial. You may have met him on the way here." King4567 wasn't paying attention that much but recalls that there is a single yellow dot just around the corner near the entrance when checking at the map. King4567 thanks his big brother then left. "He should be alright." said Monarch66 before advancing once again.

King4567 walks around until he sees a small house with a small farm. There are three straw dummies posted outside. "Another new face?" said by a voice behind King4567. He looks back and sees a grizzled veteran who just came back from hunting. This should be Lou. King4567 bows and introduces himself. "Nice to meet you Sir Lou. I'm King4567. I want to learn the tutorial please." asked he.

Lou sighs and said, "Why do you want to learn from me? As you can see, I am no teacher." King4567 is confused. The Npc talks naturally like a real person. King4567 thinks for a reason. He said, "Because my big brother said you could teach me how to wield a sword better." Lou raises his eyebrow. No one actually wanted to learn from him for a long time. This is the first time one person recommended someone to be taught by him.

He didn't ask for who recommended him to be King4567's instructor. Instead he asked, "Are you willing to learn how to wield a sword? Venture further in the dungeon? Gain wealth and glory?" A panel in front of King4567. It's looks old because of its simple grey background and the simple white font instead of the new blue panel. Its still a quest panel that he can accept or decline. The answer is obvious for someone like King4567. He presses the button and his mouth said "Yes".

King4567 is now a student of Lou, the tutorial instructor of Dungeon Hunt.
