Desire To Hunt

Cedric stood there in the dark. The mirror near the doors were brown, dark and impossible to see through yet.. He could see the women clearly as if the wall was not separating them.

In the darkness he looks into her dark and defiant eyes making his hands itch for something to break.

She was strong, fierce and knew how to stand for herself… unlike him who was hiding in the dark since he could not speak.

He could not tell them that he did not want the land, the power, the position or else it would have never belonged to his brother. He had rejected it once, and he wanted to reject it again.

He had played crazy once and this time.. He would cross all the limits to assure killing all hyenas at once.

They had come for him, they would come to him. For they think he was an easy opponent. They want him to take the position of duke from his nephew. They think it would be easy to control a lunatic.

They would make sure that he would hurt Killian, kill Killian, and then they would get rid of him, proving him as a criminal. Their thoughts were clear on their faces like their big eyes and mocking lips.

The maids were no better. The servants his brother claimed to be caring were greedy, lazy and corrupt. They have found a chance and now they are using it.

They told her that it did not matter since their new master was a depraved man full of debauchery. That was a small word he would use to describe himself but at least, the staff was already sure that he was not worth their attention.

It was better! Let them think that he was a fool and he would hide in the dark until he found who murdered his brother. The spy must be among them, among those vassal families that knock his door and send those women.

They think that they could control him by those flashy bodies. Very well! He would let them revel in the darkness until he took away all the light and they had to die in that darkness. He would make sure of it.

They dared to touch his family and now.. They have to pay the price.

She challenged them. He heard her speak again, gaining his attention and for a second taking him away from his darkness.

The servants glared at her. They were stronger. If they attacked, it would only need two hands to kill her. Four to drag her and six to bury her. She would be gone forever. Did she not realize the threats their eyes were speaking of! But then, she did not feel threatened in his presence, which never happened before.

He makes fists. His knuckles crack. He feels no pain but that woman would.

"I apologize!" the woman took a step back, giving up on sacking him. She should have, it would save a life! Too bad, she could not hear his thoughts.

They disappeared in the dark when he heard the voice he was waiting for. Giving her a last look, he shifted away.

Walking to his window, he saw the carriages stopping and held the windowsill tightly when Killian came out.

They had dared to kidnap the child after killing his parents and he knew this blame was going to come on him too. He could clear their every doubt if he wanted, but he did not want that.

Darkness hid the crime and it was better for him to stay hidden. The child looked pale, weak but his face was cold. He did not speak a word or react when questions were thrown on him,

The butler ran and held the child in his arms as if he was precious but Killian did not show any reaction. They conversed for a minute but the knight kept staring at the house as if looking at something very important to the limit Cedric's lips twitched.

His hands itched to open the door and see what he was looking for but that would give away. It would inform that Cedric was not drinking, he was not wallowing in the dark or enjoying his debauchery but he was keeping an eye on them and that was the last thing he wanted.

The knights bowed their heads and returned to their carriage. Butler carried the child in and just then, Cedric knocked on the window glass.

A man that was never part of the palace jumped on the balcony and entered the room.

"He was in Dusk Mere Town. the men were caught but we have not found the leader and.."

"And.." Cedric tilted his head slowly, his eyes still staring outside though where there was no one left.

"Someone stole all the papers, ledgers, records and everything we can use to find the culprit." The criminals were never that smart. They would save their life before saving papers for they did not care if the nobles would be caught.

"Investigate more! I want the name of the kidnappers in a week." he whispered slowly as if he was singing prayers when the man in the dark nodded.

"The new woman.. She was there in the town when the accident happened. The knight is already doubtful of her." that made Cedric snap his head to the man in the dark.

He had seen Elara. As much as he had felt fierceness, he didn't see it coming.

"She is a criminal?" the man nodded without hesitation.

"Her record is a lie. She had fabricated that recommendation letter and she had changed her name. It is Elara Rosemere not Elara Brentwood." Cedric paused for a second before laughing hard but his eyes went dark. Like two deep vortex sucking all the light around them.

"Very well! I finally have a target!" the man in dark frowned, hesitated before asking,

"Do you want me to deal with her?"

"No! I am in the mood to hunt."
