Behead Them

"Where are you going?" Cedric asked Killian who had turned to leave. "I thought you were hungry too." A simple concern left Killian's stomach churning.

He felt like he would vomit if he stayed there any longer.

"I am not feeling well suddenly. I will have my breakfast in my room." he did not wait for Cedric to reply as he hurriedly left for his room.

The rest of the staff who had performed a shoddy job and did not complete their duties well stood frozen there, afraid that Killian would turn back any moment and add their names too.

It still felt like a dream that half of the staff of the palace had been thrown out just like that. They were not offered any severance pay or got any recommendation letter. Without them, their life as a servant had already ended. No noble would hire them without a letter.

They thanked the gods again and again that Killian did not take their names as the dismissing ones.
