The Betrayal

Bella felt hatred for the vampire to hurt her kind. Though she had never been attached to them, they were her people, her fellow witches.

She must go and inform her father. For the first time she regretted not bringing Luhan with her.

As she kept staring at the scene with panic, conflicted, if she should run and inform her family or go and save them first. Her heart reached her throat as she trembled with vulnerability and rage.

If she would take this bracelet out, she could save them. She was sure about her magic, but then, everyone would know who she was!

But just when she took a step forward toward the witches, she felt the eyes of the man moving to her. Those dark red eyes stared at her with a challenging look.

It might be her delusion but she felt that he was going to devour her with his gaze. His aura was so strong that she felt herself freezing there and for the first time Bella felt fear.

Her body stood rooted until the vampire took his gaze when the fellow vampiress held his hand. When the vampire turned to look at the annoying vampiress,  Bella took the chance and ran away.

"Rafael, mother would be angry if we stayed any longer. We have made quite a scene." Though Diana complained, her smug look said otherwise.

Rafael frowned and glared at her but when he looked back, the woman was gone. He had met her gaze and her eyes were dark black like two vortexes and he felt a strange electric current going through his whole body when he started into those dark eyes.

She must be a witch. Though witches were known to have silver hair and silver eyes, making them easy to recognize in the large crowd, they were good at spells and witchcraft.

Recently they have found potions to change the color of their hair and eyes. Not only that, they have learnt to hide their magic. Strange jewels that could hide their mana and aura and it was hard to find them now.

Strangely, these spells left a strange odor in their hair and body when they changed color and Damien, his friend and enemy, was good at recognizing that smell.

They check the jewels of the woman Damien suspects and most of the time, they find witches that way.

"Are we not going back?" Asked Diana again, she was a strong vampire and daughter of her godmother, her aunt, Scarlet. And she was betrothed to him. But she was annoying and often stuck too close for Rafael's comfort.

He glared at her again but like always, she did not mind being scolded or she didn not even understand that he was raging as she wrapped her arms around Rafael's hands.

"Brother, we will leave the task of bringing them to you." she commanded Dami, her younger but smarter brother as she dragged Rafael.

How he wanted to break those hands of her to get himself free but he knew Scarlet would be disappointed and it was his father, who wanted this annoying girl to marry him.

He fought the urge to kill her and only pushed her away from his space. This woman did not understand privacy.

As he started walking, Diana and Damien followed him closely. As he passed the crowd, he once again searched for the silver hair girl but she had completely disappeared from the fair.

"You have brought a carriage?" Rafael cocked his brow and stared at them in bafflement. Since when Vampires needed a carriage to travel? "I am sure I will run faster than a horse."  and you too! He wanted to add but did not want to annoy Damien. He still needed Dami's help in finding more witches.

One of them had killed his parents. He would find every single one of them and interrogate them until he found the killer of his parents and punish them.

He stared at the witches with the desire to kill. They were struggling to get that jewel of their hands, so that they could cast a spell and run away but they had secured them tightly in their own jewel.

"This chain is made up of jewels you use to wear to hide your powers. We have collected it from all the witches we have killed so far. So, all your efforts are useless." he laughed when he saw horror rising on their faces and their eyes widened.

"Why? Are you feeling mortified now when it comes to you? Have you ever thought what I had felt when you had killed my parents when we had already signed the peace treaty!

Do you think I would forgive the betrayal and let you live just because you thought I was weak! You made a mistake of not killing me that day and now you have to pay for it." the witches shuddered with fear and shook their heads.

"But we know nothing. We are commoners. You must go and meet the witches of the high altar or the head of the coven.

Do you think we have any power to decide things for our coven? We are innocent." the woman cried, struggling hard to get rid of this cursed jewel.

Julia had told them it would protect them by hiding their identity. They only wanted to earn some money for their journey to southern lands. Why must they die for crimes they have never done.

"You know what…" Rafael walked closer, his aura so cold that it left everyone shaking around him, "my parents were innocent too. They believed that all the races could live together happily.

They even told me to find a witch to marry in the future for our bright future and strong union." his voice was filled with venom when the witches closed their eyes.

"We did not do it. We did nothing." they repeated in desperate attempts but only found their body being dragged away by the other vampire.
