"I beg your pardon!" a hint of fear masked by confusion filled Bella. There was no way they would do it with her. She was sure at least her father would be looking for her, Ana? Maybe she missed Bella.
"You do not need to.. Anymore! They were told you are dead." Morgan stared as Bella's eyes widened and the darkness started to seep in. small black smoke, as if it had come alive. The woman was slowly getting covered with it and the smoke was hissing at her, like a slithering snake. The restraints did nothing to stop it. It was nothing more than an accessory when worn by this beautiful yet deadly witch.
Too bad! Her power did not come from the goddess they pray to. She was part of the devil, the darkness, and those flaming eyes in the dark was cold proof of it. She was tainted! She would be doomed. So, Morgan would make sure that she would be the doom of vampires, not them.
Morgan was fascinated by this act, by Bella. From the moment she had seen Bella, she knew that Bella was a powerful weapon and Morgan had decided that she was going to use it against vampires.
"I did it so that they do not come looking for you when you complete your mission." she continued with a wry smile on her face, "i have never thought you would give up so easily."
"I did not!" Bella took a step closer, the slithering shadows vanished in a second as if they were never there in the first place. The girl looked worried now. Only rage could bring them, Morgan deduced as she shook her head and masked disappointment on her face. If guilt was the restraint working on Bella, she was going to use it.
"Then prove it! Rather than thinking about going home, find a way to meet that vampire again. Or find anyone from his palace. All you need is to infiltrate the palace. It is not necessary that you be a slave of the lord." Bella opened her mouth to plead but closed it. Knowing well, the woman had no heart, not for her.
"Bella." Morgan touched the soft cheeks of the young girl, "all the witches are dying. Even if I let you return to your house, do you think Ana would be able to survive? It is just a matter of time before she would be caught and killed. Your father, mother, Luhan.. Me! We all are going to die with the hands of those vampires.
I thought you wanted to save your family. If not for us, then Ana. the girl cried for hours for you." Bella bit her lips to control her own son. Her family cried for her! They missed her but now they think that she is dead..
"Alright!" She clenched her hands into a tight fist, "I will find a way and will not return until I find the weakness of vampires but now I am going to do it my way, not yours."
"....." Morgan's eyes flickered. She looked at Bella with suspicion. She had chosen Bella because she had nothing to lose. If Bella succeeded, they would attack vampires, if she failed, she would die and they would get rid of the devil. But..
"You will not betray us!" Bella's eyes widened in shock when Morgan whispered it as if she was pleading.
"I would never! Those vampires are my enemies." her words hold convection and sincerity when Morgan nodded.
"Very well, then I will give you a month to follow your own plans. After that, I will take the charge again." Morgan signaled the young wizard standing in the corner and they moved, taking a few steps, they vanished in the dark.
Bella took a step back and slumped on the small chair in the corner. She was exhausted. She had promised that she was going to find a way but in reality, she had nothing.
"He wanted me to live a simple life here in this town!" she whispered slowly, "then i should only start with it."
Standing up, she walked out and looked for work. She asked at seven shops before getting the work of serving meals in an inn.
One bronze coin, food and she could sleep on the tables at night. That was a good offer for the start. Bella went to the kitchen and started bringing the dishes ordered while her eyes scanned the customers. Many of them were wearing cloaks to hide their identities but they were all humans. Some of them looked at her warily because of her hair but many were more interested in her young body, soft hands and beautiful smile.
When she served the last man on the corner, he held her wrist and licked his lips.
"I have never seen a witch in our town. What are you doing here?" it caught the attention of a few and they turned to look at her when she struggled.
"I am not a witch. I am a human." that made the man chuckle,
"No! But you have silver hair and.. You know that those sniffing vampires would come looking for you and put us in danger. What if they accused us of helping a witch?" his voice went an octave higher as if he wanted everyone to listen to him.
"I assure you that vampires would not come for me." she softly pleaded but the man only snorted and pulled her toward the door.
"No! It would be better to get rid of you and not take the risk." he looked at the owner, who looked worried for Bella. But the man was someone he could not trifle with easily.
"Lord Graham. I am sure the girl is innocent. And she is not going to leave the inn. So no one would know about her silver hair." he tried but the man in question only scoffed.
"Ha! And you believe it? I thought you were wise, Esmond. I will ask my father to call you for a trial if you do not agree with me."
