Save Him

"Diana told me that you brought a slave home?" Scarlet took a sip of red wine poured by her slave and nodded. The man bowed with joy and took a step back.

Rafael chuckled and slowly walked toward the other side of the sofa from the door.

"You seem uneasy, Scarlet. You did not even wait for me to enter the room before throwing questions at me." his lips kicked up in a smirk when the woman raised a brow.

"It is strange because I have arranged all of your blood slaves in the past. You only go to slave establishments to hunt for witches. But now, you have brought yourself a human with silver hair." her eyes narrowed sharply but Rafael only leaned on his seat and nodded.

His fingers tapped the arm rest. A maid came forward and poured the wine for him. She bent morre to show her ample bosom in the low cut dress but he did not pay any attention to her.

"Diana was furious. Part of the reason is, you have not committed to her. If only you had gone with the marriage, she would not have been this insecured." Scarlet shook her head as foul taste filled her mouth. The wine did not taste good anymore.

She extended her hand and the slave came forward and took it from the hand of his mistress. His face went gloomy instantly and he stood beside her to massage her shoulders. But when Rafael still did not reply. She raised her hand to stop the slave.

"You can leave." three cold words without an explanation. The slave hesitated only for a second before bowing his head and leaving the room.

"Rafael! Must you test my patience at every step." her voice went sharp when Rafael raised a brow and met her eyes.

"I never knew that I was answerable to you, Scarlet. Last time I checked, my authority was much higher than yours." Scarlet lips pursed into a thin line as she stared hard at him. But even knew that Rafael could not be forced or pressed.

If he was not going to tell her, then it did not matter how much she forced him. More than that, it could backfire.

"I understand. As long as she is not a witch, I do not need to concern myself with her. Diana is too sensitive. But I know that your hatred for witches is strong enough that a mere attraction could not collude your mind." she smiled, taking a deep breath. Her mood changed instantly but Rafael did not reply to that either.

Mere attraction? Was he even attracted to that girl? He remembered touching her but even he did not know why he did it.

"Since you are here, I want to show you something." She stood up and walked to the cupboard on the other side. She did not let the maid open the box for her.

Taking out a parchment, she returned to him with a big grin on her face.

"You remember Damien had hunted a group of witches a few days ago?" his eyes finally stirred and he sat properly. His eyes scanned the document she was holding.

His eyes flickered as he read it bringing a smirk on her face.

"Are you sure about it?" His voice went grim instantly but she nodded with confidence. Her eyes were bright and filled with thrill. "I am going personally to check it. If it is true, we are here for a jackpot." she clapped her hands and stood up as if she could not wait to take action.

But when she tried to take the parchment back, he held it tightly in his hands. Scarlet raised a brow and met his dark and grim eyes.

"I will go myself." Scarlet's eyes widened a bit. Even if she was shocked, she did not show it on her face when she sighed.

"You are still young. The level of this hunt is big, Rafael." she paused as if searching for the correct word when he laughed.

"You seem to be challenging my authority often, Scarlet. I must have been too gullible with you recently." the woman stiffened at once. She opened and closed her mouth only to leave a breath,

"Take Damien with you and Diana too." she added after some thought when he paused. Just when she thought that he would reject it too, he nodded.

"My slave would come with me too." that undid Scarlet who was trying to calm herself. Her eyes narrowed and went cold at once.

"What for?"

"I want to show her the relationship between vampires and witches." a cruel smirk on his face that surprised Scarlet but before she could ask, he was already gone.

The parchment was the address of one of the hideouts of witches. If they are lucky, they will find a whole coven. If not, at least ten witches would be there. Scarlet had already informed the forces.

They were ready to be led by Rafael but he had still not joined them.

"This could be a trap too. Are you sure Rafael would be the one leading?" he tilted his head and stared into the darkness as if he was part of it when Scarlet sighed.

"You know he is sensitive. I can not dictate to him every time. Dami, you must protect him from your life! He is our lord." Dami laughed as if he had heard a joke.

"And I am your son. Have you ever thought you should choose me instead of him? Even once?" Scarlet paused. Her eyes narrowed at Dami at once.

"Both of you are speaking too much today. Do you think we have the right to choose ourselves? We are here to serve Rafael. And we must do it with our lives if needed. No question asked."
