After handing over the folder to the butler, Braylen did not continue to drink but went upstairs to rest.
He felt that Darlene was too quiet tonight when he passed by her bedroom. As soon as she came back, she went upstairs and never came down again.
He reckoned that he should have a proper conversation with her as soon as possible, not like that night two years ago. Last time, he had neglected Darlene because of Josefina, which caused Darlene to leave the Swale family alone that night and almost died in the sea.
He had a feeling that Darlene was still awake, so he knocked on the door and spoke up. "Are you asleep? You reeked of alcohol when you came back. I'll ask Rylie to prepare some hangover remedy for you before you go to bed, okay?"
There was not a single response from inside. Braylen looked down and saw the light pouring out from the crack of the bedroom door.
