Darlene woke up and appeared in front of Avery's eyes just like that.

It even seemed that the three years she had been unconscious before were not real.

Avery remained silent, his body rigid and unmoving like a log. He struggled to speak, but his throat felt constricted, and no words could escape.

After a long time, his hand began to move with difficulty. He reached out to touch Darlene's face, as if trying to touch an unreal fantasy.

When he reached out, Darlene turned her head sideways. It was unsure if she was deliberately trying to avoid his hand or just wanted to try and see if she could move now.

Avery's hand was close to her face, but he stopped reaching out and froze in mid-air.

It took him a lot of effort to make his voice sound clearer. "Darlene, you're awake. Are you awake?"

He tried to calm down, but as soon as he said that, his eyes turned red.
