As soon as Cade entered the bedroom, he heard Darlene's feeble voice. He immediately rushed to the bed and asked, "Mommy, are you okay? Is your heart not feeling well again?"
As he spoke, he leaned closer to Darlene, wanting to touch her forehead to see if she had a fever or was sweating.
Darlene reached out to touch his head with difficulty and comforted him. "I'm fine. I'm just not feeling well. Go get me some medicine. I'll be fine after taking two."
Ten years had passed since Darlene's heart transplant surgery.
There was someone else's heart in her body, and the rejection reaction would last a lifetime, but the reaction was not that big or small.
In the past few years, she felt that the rejection reaction had been much lighter, and those anti-rejection drugs no longer needed to be taken so frequently.
But in order to prevent uncomfortable situations from happening, she still had to take a couple a day.
