Beth's POV
"Don’t go!"
I hear April scream, and I leave the bathroom to find her standing in my doorway, arms locked tightly around Peter’s neck. He hugs her back, frowning and looking torn, before sighing.
"Look, April, I have to-"
"No you don’t!" April interrupts, sounding frantic. They’re both totally oblivious to me, caught up in their own little world. "Aaron has enough men to go with him! You don’t have to leave!"
Peter frowns again, and I can see his heart breaking in his eyes. "Please, April, don’t fight me on this. I have to go."
April lets out a sound that strangely resembles a sob, and leans away from him. But instead of letting Peter go, she grabs onto his hair, pulling him down to her face and kissing him for all she’s worth.
When she finally pulls away for air, she whispers three little words that absolutely break Peter – and even I can see it, from all the way across the room. "Please, don’t go."
