Chapter 179 The Funeral

Beth's POV

After the old King's spirit was gone completely, I returned to the banquet hall.

When I opened my eyes, Nina ran to my side nervously and held my hand. Her body was cold all over, and her eyes were full of expectation and prayer.

I couldn't bear to respond to her silent inquiry. Meanwhile, Alexander knelt beside the old King's body and pressed his hand on the old King's chest, yet he did not feel any heartbeat.

  "Beth, how was it?"

I sighed softly and shook my head apologetically, "Sorry. I couldn't bring him back."

Nina slumped to the ground, letting go of my hand. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she wept with her hands over her mouth. "I saw him, but he didn't want to come back.

"The old King said that he wanted to atone for sacrificing the she-wolves into the deep sea. It is the path he has taken, and it's probably for the best for him."
