Nina's POV
Fate always joked with me. It tended to take away everything and everyone I cherished, including my father, Henry, and Lola. My life always fell off a cliff when it was getting a little better.
The witch's words echoed in my mind, and I could not fall asleep at all. I put Lola to bed and left the room alone.
The palace was full of collapsed buildings. I looked at my broken home and walked in a daze. By the time I came back to my senses, I was at church. I looked at the fallen cross, so numb that I couldn't feel a thing.
