"He's shifting." My father scooped him up in his arms and we all ran outside on the cold damp grass. Once the sound of breaking bones met my ears, I finally realized we had two humans here, witnessing a shift. "You guys need to go inside, now." I ordered, Melanie turning on her heel to enter the house.
Thea was in my arms, stiff as a boulder, "Come on." I said over the screams of my teenage brother. I needed to get her out of here before he shifts fully.
But by the final deafening crack, and as horror struck her face, I knew it was too late. I then had to physically drag her inside as she began breathing heavily. "H-He," She stammered, looking up at me for an explanation.
"I know, I know." I murmured, trying to get her as far away from the scene as I could. I gently sat her on the couch.
"No fucking way," She breathed heavily before slumping against the cushion behind her, passing out cold.
