Two hours later, the plane arrived in Hodge City.
Despite her preparations, Elizabeth's hands trembled slightly as she stepped off the plane and saw the familiar airport.
Five years ago, this was where she had left.
Five years had passed, but the airport hadn't changed much, and Elizabeth walked to the end of the line with a heavy heart.
She was so caught up in her thoughts that she didn't notice the person in front of her stop and turn to look at her when he saw she was walking too slowly.
But Elizabeth wasn't paying attention and bumped into him.
Boom.
Her forehead slammed into his chest.
Elizabeth stopped in her tracks and looked up to see Max's deep eyes.
He said in a cold voice, "Don't you watch where you're walking?"
At his words, Elizabeth paused, rubbed her forehead, and took two steps back, frowning.
"I was just thinking about something."
"What were you thinking about?"
