Lainey lowered her eyes. It seemed that she was deep in thought about what Annie had said.
"Ms. Simpson, I don't think this is a good idea. I mean, you are not a member of the McGraw family. If you partake in the McGraw family affair, people would find it suspicious, and that would do you no good."
Lainey sighed and patted the back of Annie's hand gently.
"I know I sound a bit harsh, but what I said is the truth. No hard feelings, Ms. Simpson?"
Annie smiled nonchalantly, "I couldn't care less about how people see me. Also, I view Mr. McGraw and Mrs. McGraw as my family. Therefore, Mr. McGraw can take me as his sworn sister after the whole thing is settled. That would resolve the issue."
Lainey, slightly stunned, began to think about what Annie meant carefully, with her head lowered so as to hide the emotions in her eyes.
