Halo studied the girl for a moment before saying dismissively, "You should leave."
The girl, taken aback, shook her head and replied, "I can't go."
After a brief pause, she continued, "You're not Mr. Beckley, so you have no right to decide this. Master Roger insisted that I please Mr. Beckley, so I can't just leave, or he won't let me go. Moreover, I don't want to live like this anymore. I must prove my worth to Master Roger."
Halo didn't anticipate the girl's persistence, so he told her, "Fine, wait by the door."
As Halo moved to close the door, the girl quickly stepped forward and blocked the doorway. "Miss, why won't you let me in? Are you afraid I'll steal Mr. Beckley away?" Halo scoffed, ignored her, and shut the door.
The girl stumbled back but remained standing in the doorway.
Halo retreated back into the room, feeling somewhat indifferent. As she thought about the girl's situation and words, she gave a cold hum.
