"Good morning, Alpha." Larry greets me with a bright smile. "Morning." I croak from the warmth of my bed, hauling myself up to rest against the headboard. I've been bedridden for a week. I spent two of those days unconscious. I hope this doesn't become a habit -- I seem to spend more time recovering from injuries since I became Alpha.
"Last dose of antidote today. Then, we can go for a quick walk. What do you say, hmm? Test your strength." Larry offers, rushing to help me up. "No. I want to stay here." I clear my throat loudly, looking up at the patterned ceiling. "I'm tired."
"Alpha Evans." Larry sighs. "Your leg has completely healed. Every trace of silver has been removed from your body, every drop of venom has been siphoned from your veins. You need to get back to normal."
"I-- I can't sleep, Larry. I haven't slept in five days. Every time I close my eyes...I see them." The feeble words escape my mouth. "The vampires from Greyfort?"
