Karen heaved a long sigh, "Gloria, you promised me. Did you forget it? I told them you and Jordy would attend the wedding on my behalf. Forget it. It's just a matter of losing face. My bad. If I insisted on stopping you two from getting a divorce, you and Jordy... Alas, let bygones be bygones. Gloria, I'm so sorry, for my family treated you so unfairly before. I know I'm in no position to keep you here."
With that said, Karen choked with sobs.
Hearing Karen's sad tone of voice, Gloria felt upset.
The point was that she was not a saint. Though she was upset, she could not sacrifice selfishly regardless of her own sacrifice.
She changed the topic, "Grandma, you said you had something important to tell me. What is it?"
Gloria knew that Karen said those words on purpose to keep her here and set her up with Jordy.
But she didn't expose Karen's intention.
