Nabu Island

My name is Hikari Yagi. I am enrolled in Class 1-A of UA High School's hero course with my classmates. There are 21 of us, and we've been through a lot together. Now, we're running a hero agency here on Nabu Island, a peaceful place far from mainland Japan. All of us have our provisional licenses, but it's still unusual for a group of students to be running a hero agency by themselves. Even if it is just temporary. So, why did our teachers send us here? Last month, Mr. Aizawa told us about this program called The Hero Work Recommendation Project. He said we'll be stationed here, on Nabu Island in Southern Japan, as part of the program. Their previous hero-in-residence got old and retired, so the islanders are going to depend on us till a permanent successor arrives. All the students of Class 1-A, including myself, were ecstatic to hear that we'll be doing real hero work. Eventhough I was excited, I know this isn't an internship or a work study. We're talking about the real thing. We're actually completely on our own here; no teachers to help us or pros to back us up. We are responsible for everything that happens, good or bad.

While I sat at my desk, the phone rings and I answered it without a moment of hesitation.

"Hello! This is the UA Hero Agency!" I enthusiastically greeted the caller. "What can we help you with?"

"Help! My little brother went to the island ruins and hasn't come back!" The island local cried out from the other line. The person on the phone sounds like a little girl. Probably about Eri's age, or older. "I'm worried something bad must've happened to him!"

"Don't you worry! We'll find your brother and bring him back safe and sound." I hung up the phone and rose from my seat. I glanced at my boyfriend. "You wanna help me out with this one, Blasty?"

"Count me out." Katsuki said nonchalantly. His eyes didn't even leave that Nabu Island Guidebook. I placed a hand on my hip and looked at my boyfriend with an irritated expression. My hothead of a boyfriend has mostly been sitting on his ass all day because he didn't want to do any "stupid boring jobs".

"Seriously, Katsuki?" I walked towards Katsuki. "All you've been doing since we got here is lay on your back and read that guidebook. You can at the very least do one job."

Here." He tossed me the Nabu Island Guidebook. I caught it and looked at the page that's marked by a paperclip. On the page is information about the Island ruins and a map that shows you where they're located. I smiled, knowing that he gave me this so I'll know how to get there.

"Thank you, Blasty."

"Yeah, whatever."

I gave my boyfriend a kiss on lips.

"But after I'm done looking for this lost little sibling, you're going to do at least one help request." I put on my red jacket, which is part of my hero costume. "Villian or no Villian, I'm not going to let you be the only one who hasn't done anything."

Katsuki, sighing in displeasure at my statement, replied to me with an unsatisfied "fine" through gritted teeth. I smirked and left the agency with the Island Guidebook in my hands. Izuku wanted to tell me something, but I already used my flames to blast off into the direction of the ruins.

🏛

"Hey! Little boy! Where are you!?" I shouted at the top of my lungs. "You're sister is worried about you!"

Using the flames on my feet, I flew around the island ruins as I called out for the missing kid. I should call him by his actual name, but I didn't think to ask the older sister for it. The island ruins are on a smaller island northwest of Nabu. The two islands are connected by a narrow path that crosses the sea, the beginning of which is flanked by two statues of beasts. The ruins, which were built by the inhabitants of the island long ago, almost cover the whole island. The historical landmark is an amazing sight, but I didn't come here for some sightseeing. Right now, my main goal is a missing little sibling. Luckily, my search wasn't in vain. I saw a kid sitting against a broken wall and maneuver my way toward him. I handily landed in front of the boy noticing. When the kid finally became aware of me after a few seconds, he jumps in surprise.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." I said to the little boy while smiling. "I'm Himawari. What's your name?"

"M-my name is Katsuma..." The boy stuttered out. He has brown eyes, curly, light brown hair, and a small patch of freckles in the middle of his face. He wears a pair of blue overalls with dark blue straps over a white T-shirt, accompanied by light blue sandals. He also carries a small yellow messenger bag that has a pin of the Pro Hero Edgeshot's face fastened onto the strap. Additionally, Katsuma also is sporting a bracelet with a floral charm on his left arm, along with a large sun hat which has a blue band on the crown and a light blue stripe on the rim.

"Do you happen to have a big sister, Katsuma?" I kneeled down to Katuma's level. The little boy nods, indicating that my suspicion is correct. I offered my hand to him. "She's been really worried, so let me take you back home."

Katsuma stared at me then smiled; his eyes sparkled at the sight of a hero in front of him just like any other kid. He reminds me of Izuku when we were kids.

"Hey, you!" A little girl suddenly appeared from behind the ruins wall. "I can't believe how slow you were!"

I was dumbfounded by the random comment. Slow? Who the heck is this brat calling slow?!

"M-Mahoro!" Katsuma said when he saw the girl.

Is this girl a friend of Katsuma? He seems to know her. The girl named "Mahoro" is small, but taller than Katsuma. She has dark brown eyes, straight brown hair styled into pigtails with dark pink bubble-shaped bands, and a small patch of freckles in the middle of her face. She wears a pink dress with dark pink overall straps and buttons over a black tank top, and white sandals with a pink stripe wrapping around the sole, and dark pink flower decorations at the sides. On her left wrist is a bracelet with a floral charm, identical to the one Katsuma wears. Mahoro is also wearing a large sun hat with a dark pink scarf and bow at the crown and a light pink stripe at the rim. Come to think of it, Mahoro's voice sounds just like the girl that requested help for her missing sibling. Plus, she and Katsuma share several physical traits. Is Mahoro the older sister?

"Are you Katsuma's older sister? The one that called?" I asked the girl. "If you came here to look for him, you're too late. I already found him."

"Hmph! Well, you sure took your time looking for him!" Mahoro shoved her phone in my face. There's a paused timer on the screen that said 55 minutes and 30 seconds. "It took you almost an hour to find him!"

"You set a timer?" I chuckled.

Since when did she set a timer? And how could she possibly know the exact moment I found Katsuma when she just got here? Then, I noticed the boy's guilty expression. My smiling face faded to shock and realization hit me. This was all a prank!

"Hey, wait a minute! Were the two of you testing me!?" I exclaimed in disbelief.

"Yeah! So what?" Unlike her little brother, Mahoro doesn't regret her actions. Instead, she puts away her phone and places her hands on her hips as if she's my boss, judging my performance. "You were faster than that "Deku" guy, but a lot can happen during that time!"

Faster than Deku? Don't tell me...

"You two actually played this stunt before on one of my friends!?" My voice rose, making Katsuma flinch.

"Of course we did! UA High is such a famous school, but they sent us a bunch of idiots to help us!" Mahoro points a finger in my face. "If you hero students can't even find a missing person in a few minutes on one island, then what are you guys going to do when a big bad villian shows up, huh?! If you ask me, I think we were better off with that old geezer--"

"This isn't a game, you brats!!" I didn't let Mahoro finish and yelled at her and her brother. Nearby birds flew away in fear because of my uproar. I also punched the top of the siblings' heads, leaving bumps. Mahoro deserves it for the false reports, wasting a hero's time (eventhough we're still students), having the audacity to "test" me and my friends, and lecturing us as if she's Mr. Aizawa or my mom! It looks like Katsuma was dragged into this, but still, he's an accomplice! I made sure to give those two kids a good scolding so they will think twice before pulling a stunt like this again. After I was done, I escorted Mahoro and Katsuma home.

As soon as I returned to the UA Hero Agency, I asked Izuku about the prank those two kids pulled on him. He confirmed that fact to be true. Hearing the truth only made me let out an exasperated sigh as I sat back down at my desk.

"At least Katsuma is okay..." Izuku said. "That's what's most important."

"Yeah, but what if they pull the same stunt on the next hero that'll be stationed here? They're going to distract the pro from doing their job. While that pro is dealing with whatever prank they pulled on him or her, it might be too late to save someone who's actually in trouble! And when they call when they actually are do need help from a hero, that pro isn't going to come because he or she is going to think it's just another prank. I don't mind a harmless joke, but you can't just "test" a pro hero like that. I don't care what the reason is!" I crossed my arms. "I gave those two a lecture before taking them home. Hopefully, they got the message."

"You made the right choice to do so!" Iida, our class representative, commended me for my choice of action. "As future heroes, we must inspire the next generation to be responsible and do the right thing. Just like our educators at UA and the pro heroes we admire!"

"If I were you, I'd beat their asses until they learned their lesson!" Katsuki spoke.

"I'm not gonna let you do that!" I retort.

There is no way I'm going to let my boyfriend beat up a couple kids. I'm thinking bad about him or anything, he just has a... short fuse. As I continued my work at the UA Hero Agency, I thought about Katsuma and Mahoro. I really hope they don't cause trouble for me and my friends while we're here.
