Alondra knew she had gotten her way after she heard Edith's words.
She was relieved, but she had to pretend that she was sad.
"Mrs. Lowery, I don't want to think about it now."
As Alondra spoke, her eyes turned red. "I very much regret that I won't be around to take care of you in the future. Please take this dress as my last gift for you before I leave."
Edith was happy at first. But when she heard Alondra's words, she was shocked.
Edith put down the mug and asked Alondra, "What are you talking about?"
"Hendry has been growing impatient with me lately. He said that he would send me abroad. And he's already started the paperwork. I guess I will be leaving soon."
Edith had heard about that before. But she didn't know exactly why Hendry and Alondra fell out.
