"But what about all of you? Each and every one of you goes against him. You're shameless and despicable, not even respecting the dead. If Royce were still alive, he would never make the same decision as you!"
Realization dawned on Hendry when he heard Kaylah's words. The slightly downcast look in his eyes regained some vigor.
He looked straight at Kaylah, waiting for her to continue.
"Officer, we are the ones who reported the case. We have physical evidence and witnesses' testimonies. Alondra is the prime suspect, no matter what. Shouldn't you take her back for a thorough investigation?" Kaylah was too lazy to waste time convincing them, so she spoke directly to the officer.
The young police officer nodded sternly. "That's right, we can't interfere in your family affairs but must take the suspect with us."
"And as her family members, we'll need to take your statements as well."
