Mitch walked out of the room five minutes earlier than Scott, because Scott was brushing his teeth and doing his hair, but when he heard the loud crash, he ran out of the room.
Scott jogged out of his room, only to find a very confusing scene laid out in front of him. Alex was standing above a broken cereal bowl, his hands over his ears. Jake was stood beside him, a hand on his back. A lamp in the corner of the room was on the ground, Mitch sitting beside it with a hand on his ankle. Kevin was standing beside him, a hand on Mitch's upper arm and a scared expression on his face. Todrick had only just walked out of the kitchen, eyes as wide as Scott's. And everything made sense, when he saw Wyatt sitting on the couch, looking almost proud of himself.
Scott took a small step forward. "What in God's name..?"
Todrick's expression changed instantly. "Careful with your words. God is--"
Mitch interrupted with a whine, his eyes filled with tears. Scott walked forward and dropped to the ground in front of Mitch, but kneeled in a piece of glass from Alex's broken cereal bowl, and cried out as it dug into his shin. This is the mess that Avi walked in on. **********
Kevin was sitting on the ground in front of Scott and Mitch, both sitting on the couch, as he wrapped and disinfected their wounds. Alex had cleaned his mess of glass and cereal, while Todrick had stood the lamp back up. Jake was sitting on the couch too, beside Alex. Kirstie walked out at some point, and went to help Todrick in the kitchen. Avi was standing in front of the couch, squinting at Kevin while he tried to tell the story. Kevin moved to Mitch to wrap his ankle, because he thought Mitch might've sprained it or something. "Wyatt ran past the lamp, pulled the cord and the lamp fell on Mitch."
Avi nodded. "And..?"
"The sound of it scared Alex so he dropped his cereal, and then Scott ran in and went to Mitch's aid, thus kneeling down in a shard of glass."
Avi nodded again, slower this time. "So... Scott is bleeding all over my carpet because a cat knocked a lamp over..? Is that what you're saying?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying."
Avi took a deep breath and walked up to the couch, grabbing one of Mitch's hands. "Are you okay, Peanut?"
Mitch nodded slowly, his tears still steadily falling down his face. "Y-Yes, Sir."
"Don't stutter. Does your ankle hurt?" "Yes, Sir." "Kev, can we maybe give him some pain killers or something?" Kevin stopped and looked at him, from where he had his large first aid kit open wide, bandages, gauze and random bottles strewn out everywhere. His expression clearly represented how busy he was. Avi nodded curtly. "I'll grab it. My bad." Avi looked to Scott before leaving. "And what about you, Rookie? Want something to dull the pain?" "No, I'm fi--" He stopped when Avi raised an eyebrow at him, glaring at the same time. Scott smiled sheepishly and looked down. "Yes please." Kevin looked up to Scott, his hands unmoving on Mitch's ankle. "I have to tighten this. It might hurt... Say something funny so he won't think about it." Scott thought about it for less than a second. "Life is short. But Avi is definitely shorter." Avi smacked his shoulder, but Mitch laughed while Kevin tightened the wrap on his ankle. Kevin then stood up. "Okay. That's all I can do for right now. I suggest Mitch doesn't put any weight on his foot. And I need to change Scott's bandages every twenty minutes or so until the bleeding stops." Avi turned to finally go grab some pain killers, but noticed Alex sitting with his head in his hands. "Alexander..? What's wrong?" "I hurt one of the Alphas..." He whispered. Avi didn't even blink. "What?"
"The glass.. It was my fault. And I made him bleed. And I am so sorry." Scott shook his head. "No, it's my fault. I shouldn't have run over there when there was glass on the floor." Avi rolled his eyes at their kindness, and walked down the hall. Jake ran his hand up and down Alex's back to comfort him. "It isn't anybody's fault, Al. It was an accident. Don't blame yourself. Mitch frowned at the cat that jumped into his lap. "It's all Wyatt's fault." He bent a little to look the cat in the eye. "Do you see what you did, you little troublemaker?" Avi walked back to the couch, handing three pills to Scott, and two to Mitch. Todrick came in afterward, awkwardly holding two plates of breakfast, and Kirstie walked in behind him doing the same. Todrick cleared his throat when Avi looked at him expectantly. "Um.. I have breakfast..." **********
Now the group was gathered around the couch to eat, so the injured wouldn't have to move. Alex had gotten to the point where every single time he made eye contact with Scott, on purpose or not, he would apologize. Scott finally sighed. "Alex. Stop it."
"Stop what?"
"Apologizing. It wasn't your fault, and that is the last time I'm going to say it. Apologize again, and we are going to have a problem. Do you understand?"
Alex stopped eating and stared at him. "Yes, Sir. I understand. I... I hope your leg heals quickly." "Thank you." Scott replied shortly. Mitch was grinning to himself at how assertive Scott was being with Alex, but he kept his thoughts to himself and just continued to eat breakfast. Kevin was sitting on the ground at Mitch's feet, holding a bag of ice against Mitch's ankle while he ate. Avi finished eating first, taking he and Kirstie's plates into the kitchen. When he walked back out, he leaned against the side of the couch, and looked to Kevin. "You wanted to go today?"
"Yes, Sir. If that's okay." "It's definitely okay. And you'd like to take Todrick?" Kevin blushed a little, for no reason. "Yes, Sir. I would. But I would also like you to come along, if it's not too much trouble."
But before Avi could answer, Kevin started backtracking. "Now, I know you're busy and you have a pack to take care of. But especially if this is a house for your own daughter, I wouldn't want to even consider it without your input." Scott finally figured out what they were talking about, and accidently vocalized his realization. "Ohh."
Mitch looked at him instantly. "What?" He whispered. "They're going house hunting." Avi nodded at whatever Kevin had said while Scott was talking. "I'd also like to bring Kirstin." He turned his attention to his wife. "If you're feeling up to it, baby. You don't have to." Kirstie smiled, a hand on her stomach. "I'll go. It sounds fun!" Avi smiled at her, his eyes lingering on her for a second too long, before he looked back to Kevin. "Okay. We'll go whenever you're ready." Kevin nodded and stood from the floor, taking Todrick's plate for him. Avi then looked to Scott. "That means you're in charge, Alpha. But do not let Mitchell walk around on that foot." He turned to Jake. "And you, Alpha. Do not let Scott overwork himself. He is allowed to walk around, but if he looks even the slightest bit in pain, it is your responsibility to stop him from further injuring himself." Avi got Jake's nod of approval before moving on to Mitch and Alex. "Omegas. You have a job too. All I ask is that you make sure lunch is ready for your Alphas at the appropriate hour. We will probably be gone through lunch, so don't worry about cooking extra. Understood?"
Alex nodded once. "Yes, Alpha." Mitch followed. "Yes, Sir."
Avi glanced around at all of them, raising an eyebrow. "Any questions?" Mitch hesitantly raised his hand. "Alpha..?"
Avi gestured to him and leaned forward slightly. "Um.. When will you be back?" "Um.." Avi glanced over to a clock in the room, before looking back. "I don't know. Maybe around four? I can call Scott to notify him of what the time will be, if that will make you feel better." He offered.
Mitch smiled sheepishly and nodded. "Yes, please. Thank you." Avi just shrugged and then turned down the hallway to get ready. Scott looked down at Mitch, sitting beside him. "Why do you need to know when he'll be home?" "Just curious." Scott squinted at him suspiciously, but decided to drop it. ***********
