Chapter 70

The call went dead. He hung up. I was sitting upright with my legs crossed and my cell still pressed to my ear, and I couldn't move. I was frozen to the spot. Why had he called?

To make sure you were safe. My wolf answered my rhetorical question. Without thinking I went into my calls list and pressed the green button.

Waiting for him to answer was probably the most nervous, stomach churning, nail biting experience of my life. After the sixth ring I figured he wasn't going to pick up so when I heard his voice I almost threw my phone across the room.

"Rain." His voice was cold and clipped. Ah, back to the old Adan.

Asking the first question that popped into my head, "How did you get my number?" I had to press my lips together to hold back the groan. What a stupid question.
