Chapter 158

"Just easier, you know." He lifted his head and dropped a kiss on the tip of my nose before sliding his body off mine and positioning himself behind me. He turned me around to face away from him and wrapped his arm around my waist. "No fight, no different packs. Just us and no one else."

"It can be like that." I tried to reassure him, though I had no idea where this was coming from.

His nose brushed against the nape of my neck a second before he pressed a kiss there. "No it can't, Carly and we both know it. We're not like other mates. Even the beginning of our relationship wasn't straight forward."

Saying it wouldn't help the situation, but I couldn't stop myself from thinking that he was right and that we would have had a straight forward start if he hadn't have acted like a complete moron.

His low chuckle caught my attention. "Don't be afraid to say it. You're right."
