Chapter 2 Divorce with Your Husband

When Charles came back, Rosemary was talking with a tall and handsome man, standing downstairs next to a Bentley car.

Charles knew the man, Steven Holl, Rosemary’s college classmate who liked her. It was said that he went abroad after graduation. Charles didn't expect to see him at this time.

Perhaps it was because Rosemary and Steven talked so intently that they didn't even notice Charles’s arrival.

"Rosemary, I didn't expect you to get married so early."

Rosemary tucked her hair behind her ear, looked up at him and said, "After graduation, my grandfather forced me to marry him."

"But I heard that Charles got married to you without any money. You are so excellent. Why did you marry that kind of loser?"

Rosemary explained, "At that time, my grandfather was seriously ill, and my marriage with Charles was his last wish. My grandfather loved me, and I don't want to fail him."

"Do you think it's worth living with such a coward man all your life?"

She sighed and said, "Maybe this is my fate!"

"How much money do you have to pay to Courtney's company?"

"I have sold the house and the car. There is still eight hundred thousand of debts left. If it doesn't work, I should sell the company's equipment. I can sell it for another about two hundred thousand."

"You'd better not sell the equipment. I can lend you the money. With your ability, I believe you will make a comeback."

"Really? Are you really willing to lend me money?" she asked excitedly, hearing what he said.

"Of course." Steven Holl nodded and added. "But there is one condition for me to lend you money."

"What condition?"

"Divorce your husband!"

Steven Holl stared at Rosemary's graceful body with unbridled lust and wanted to hold her in his arms and kiss her immediately.

"Well..."

Rosemary fell into silence.

"You can judge by yourself. If I don't lend you the money, you may be prosecuted and put in prison. I hope you can figure it out. Besides, what's the use of keeping such a useless husband?"

At this time, Charles bumped in and shouted to Steven: "Get out of my way!"

Steven was about to lose his temper when Charles, Rosemary's husband, offended him.

"I thought you were a good man to lend money to us. However your intention is to destroy my family happiness. Stop daydreaming! There is no breakdown and no domestic violence in my marriage. Rosemary and I won’t divorce."

Steven Holl looked at Charles and noted that he was wearing a pair of flip-flops, a round collar T-shirt, a pair of beach pants, and a woven bag on his shoulder. Standing next to Rosemary, he looked like a clown.

Steven Holl had met Charles before he went abroad. At that time, Charles lived in Rosemary's home. He did not know Rosemary would marry Charles some day.

Looking back to Steven, who was wearing a professional white shirt on his upper body and a pair of straight trousers on his lower body. His hair was combed and polished, showing the exact image of the elite. There is a sharp contrast between Charles and Steven.

"Charles, it is for your own good to advise Rosemary divorce you. As long as you are willing to divorce, I will help buy you a big house. And I will give half a million dollars to you to raise your daughter. You're not going to be selfish to let Rosemary go to jail because she can't repay the debt of Courtney, right?"

Charles raised his eyebrows, stared at Steven with sharp eyes and sneered, "Steven, put away your hypocrisy. No matter how poor I am, I won't sell my wife, nor will I watch Rosemary go to jail!"

"Then Rosemary still needs eight hundred thousand dollars. You have sold the house and the car. Where else can you get the money? There is only a few days left. You are selfish, aren’t you?"

Charles sneered, "Shut up! If you want to use money to suppress me, I'm afraid you've picked the wrong person!"

He opened the woven bag and said to Rosemary, "Rose, here is one million. You can use it to pay off Courtney's debt. The rest two hundred thousand is left to your company as operating capital. With your husband around, I won't watch your company collapse."

It dumbstruck Rosemary and Steven to see the stacks of cash in the bag.

Rosemary took out a stack of notes. She could tell whether the notes were real or not with a flick of her hand.

"Charles, where did you get so much money?" Rosemary asked, flabbergasted.

Charles held Rosemary’s soft and slender hand and said mysteriously, "Let's go home and talk later. I don’t want to spill it in fronf of an outsider. Besides, I have a good news for you. I've already contacted a big client for your company. As long as you sign a contract with this client, we can earn our house and car back in a year." After saying that, he put the woven bag on his shoulder and sneered at Steven, "Steven, you disappointed me! Better tear down ten temples than break others’ marriages. Sooner or later, you'll pay for your vulgarity." Then he took Rosemary 's hand and headed to the rental house.

Steven Holl looked at the direction of their rental house, with chillness in his eyes. He said coldly, "Good for you, Charles! Just wait and see."

After returning to the rental house, Rosemary shook off Charles's hand.

"Charles, tell me, what's going on with the one million dollars?" she stared at Charles and asked coldly.

Charles stood up and took a look at Betty's room, only to find that she was asleep. Then he tiptoed back to Rosemary and said with a smile, "Honey, a few days ago, I met a big boss, who lent me the money and offered me a job to be his full-time driver."

"You even haven’t begun your work, and he lent you one million? Do you think I'm a fool?"

"Look, this is the copy of IOU!"

Charles had already prepared the IOU and presented it to Rosemary.

She took the IOU and it read:

"Charles Garcia borrowed one million dollars today. He will repay it in ten years and repay 100,000 dollar every year. If not, Charles Garcia's salary will be deducted, and the deduction period will be up to 2030.

Borrower: Charles Garcia"

She understood the whole story. That big boss gave Charles ten years' salary in advance.

Although Rosemary still had some doubts, she could finally accept Charles's one million dollars.

Charles pretended to be pathetic, holding her waist and grinning miserably: "Darling, ten years of my salary has been deducted, and I will have to rely on you to support me."

"Hum! At last you are of some use to me. I've been raising you for a long time, and I wouldn't mind raising you for another ten years. But I want you to make progress. Don’t be lazy any more! I hope my husband is a dignified man, instead of a man looked down upon by others. I don't mind divorcing you if you continue to fool around."

"But grandpa told us to live a good life and grow old together." Charles raised the name of Rosemary's grandfather.

"Don't use grandpa's name to press me again. It is me who live with you, instead of my grandpa. Also, you said before that you have a big client to introduce to me, is it true?"

Rosemary 's eyes were full of hope. If that was the case, Charles, a good for nothing, really gave full play to his role.

"Of course it's true. Have you heard of the Lexington Group? The Lexington Group is going to hand over the packaging design of the food commodities to us."

"The Lexington Group?"

Rosemary widened her beautiful eyes and couldn't believe what she had heard. She said anxiously, "Of course I've heard of the Lexington Group, which is the largest Group in New York City. I have done a lot of work before, but I have not negotiated cooperation with the Lexington Group. Who is your big boss? Why is he so powerful?"

Charles shrugged and said, "I only know his surname is Miller. But I really don't know his full name."

"Miller? How old is he?"

"About sixty!" he replied with great earnestness.

Rosemary exclaimed, "Ah! Is he your boss?"

"Who?"

"Bob Miller, the richest man in New York City!"
