Amelie was sure that Willard had something to do with this matter.

Amelie and Lamont walked ahead while Miriam followed quietly behind them. Miriam looked at Amelie occasionally, and her resentment toward Amelie deepened further.
She thought she had gotten closer to Lamont, but her plan was cut short by the appearance of Amelie, who seemed to have walked into Lamont's heart already.
Miriam couldn't let this be! Otherwise, all of her efforts would've been for naught!
The more she thought about it, the angrier Miriam got!
The thought of Cynthia hanging out at Byron's Residence sent Miriam into a frenzy as well.
All these obstacles made her anxious.
