I rolled my eyes at the 'awes' from some of the older women, the sparks from the book he gave me, and how I was sorta reluctant at first. Yeah, that was an understatement. I finally walked up to the microphone and grinned, plastering on that fake smile I was so used to.
I knew it was ridiculous, but I still had this detrimental self-doubt, that and the fact I'm sure my mother was out there, plotting my ultimate demise. She was kinda like Gru from Despicable Me. All bark and no bite, or at least I hoped she was.
"Hello everyone! I want to thank you all for giving me your time and attention, it honestly means the world to us." I briefly looked at Wesley to find him already smiling at me, a toothy grin I could only describe as wolffish. "And I want to thank you for accepting me as your Luna. I'll do my best, and I hope you all understand even when I do mess up." The crowd cheered, and it honestly took it all in me not to drop the f-bomb halfway through that speech.
