Chapter 33: Temptation

Azandra POV

Marcus called her name three times before she heard him.

“Azandra?”

The rest of the group let her go and Azandra turned to see Marcus.

He looked uncertain, glancing around. “So … this is where you do your healing now that, ah, Kyon wrecked your cottage?”

“It was a miscommunication about fixing the roof,” Azandra said smoothly. “And my cottage should be sparkling clean by now.”

“I’m glad. May I speak with you alone?” he asked.

Lilia coughed delicately. “We have a concert to prepare for. Excuse us.”

“Call us if you need us,” Jiro said with a bland expression.

Marcus looked Jiro up and down with curiosity.

Jiro tensed. Azandra knew he didn’t like people staring at him as if examining some strange animal species. “Do I have something on my chin from breakfast?”

“No. It’s just that I’ve heard you made a big impression with the Crimsontails,” Marcus said, with an air that said he knew something.
