Jiro POV
“Any word?”
Jiro was calm when speaking to an agitated Dane. “Nothing. Not since the last time you asked me.”
He’d reached out through the mind link. Nothing. Just nothing. It was like having birds stop singing when you were used to hearing them all the time. He couldn’t even feel Kyon.
On the positive side, this meant that Kyon and Azandra had reached wood elf territory. On the negative side, he couldn’t keep track of them.
“When did you last hear from them?” Lilia prompted, with worry in her voice.
Jiro was used to their repeated inquiries. “I told you, this morning before breakfast.”
“How did they seem?” Lilia asked.
Dane piled on, swinging his arms restlessly as he paced his and Lilia’s bedroom where Jiro had been summoned. “All you said was that you’d heard from them and they were pushing on.”
