Chapter 24 : …But We Do

Wes’ POV

“Come on, Nosebleed.” I’d lost sight of Eva and the Fisker a couple of streets back before the Turnpike gave way to Newark. Fuck, this was bad. Eva had no idea whom she was messing with.

This wasn’t about jealousy; this was a matter of safety.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t much I could do for Eva when she was in a mood like this. If I thought she would pick up the phone, I’d give her a call. I’d be lucky if she hadn’t blocked me on Instagram yet. Instead, I had another person in my life to worry about.

The phone was still ringing, which was a good sign it meant that Dee hadn’t gone off the grid like I expected her to. Since the documentary, some news outlets had swarmed over BrockU. A couple of the students that had seen the blowout between Dee and Eva last week gave less than charitable testimonials. They claimed she was as unstable as her father, and that violence ran in their bloodlines.
