Chapter 29 : Chase Me

Dee’s POV

“Dee, sweetheart,” Dad’s voice is strained over the collect call.

It’s quiet on his end of the line. Ever since the interview people have given him space. Inmates don’t know what to make of him. Is he a man so far removed from reality thanks to his psychosis that he thinks he’s innocent, or did they actually catch the wrong man, and that sick son of a bitch is still out there? There’s a lot to unpack here.

“I, uh… I got a call from a lawyer today. A real good one. A fitted suit, and a Tissot on his wrist. I think his cufflinks might have had real diamonds. Like, fuck me—”

“Oh, good, he came.” I breathed out a sigh of relief, another promise of Wes’ coming through.
