I got three dumb looks, and then a flood of responses at the same time. All three of them talking at once was as comical as it was impossible to understand.

Through the cacophony of tumbled word salad and vigorous gesturing, most of it directed at Ethan, I got the gist of what they were trying to communicate.

I turned to Ethan and cocked an eyebrow at him.

“So, it was you?”

He sighed, shoulders sagging in defeat.

“Yeah, it was me,” he said, unable to meet my gaze. “I didn’t want to say anything to you because I thought you would talk about it when and if you were ready.”

“We all came to that conclusion,” Lucas interjected.

“So, you didn’t say anything out of respect for me?” I asked.

“Yes, that’s the gist of it.” Oliver cleared his throat. “So, we were trying to act normal so you would have no idea we even knew about it.”

I covered my face with my hand and slowly wiped it down.
