Chapter 30 : Caught

*Juliet*

“What is going on?” Eric stands illuminated under the patio lights.

“Eric!” I choke out, pushing away from Marcus and almost drowning myself. Marcus, a lot smoother than me, pulls me up and anchors me securely against his side. I look up at Eric’s shocked face.

“It’s not what it looks like,” is the first thing out of Marcus’ mouth once he’s made sure I’m alive. I look over at him, annoyed. “Okay, it kind of is what it looks like. Sorry,” Marcus adds, the apology directed at me.

“You know, don’t worry about it. Juliet, I was just coming over to see if you wanted to go out for a drink. But it looks like you’ve already got company. I’ll leave you to enjoy your alone time,” Eric says with jealousy in his voice.
