Chapter 33 : Trauma bonding

*Logan*

I was collecting my bag from the porch when I heard the crash not too far away. I didn’t think anything of it until I saw Juliet hobbling toward the house. I could hear Eric shouting after her before I could see him. The two stop and it looks like Juliet is trying not to collapse. Rescuing her is the only thing on my mind when my legs start moving without a thought.

When I reach the end of the driveway, I assess the scene. Eric is trailing after a shaking Juliet. His voice is slurred as he calls out after her. Juliet doesn’t look injured, just shaken up and physically shaking. Her eyes are wide as well, but she is too far away. It is too dark for me to tell if her pupils are dilated.

“Juliet,” I say and she looks at me like she knows she should recognize me but can’t place my face. Then her features change and recognition hits as tears start falling down her face.

“Logan?” Juliet’s voice wavers and she sounds so worried.
