Before Leo could say a word, Rebecca continued: "I know this is out of nowhere. And I will not lie. I also have my own reasons too. One would be those gummies. If not for you helping me just now, I would have turned into a zombie. I know I am being selfish, but I promise to be of some use. I know how to cook and clean… I am also smart."
While Rebecca was trying to sell herself by stating all her good qualities, Leo was kind of amazed that she was going everywhere except selling her body. This made him actually have a good opinion of her. This meant that she had respect for herself. Even if he knew her thoughts before, when she thought she was going to die, Leo would not think any less of her. He was coming off as suspicious as it was.
"So, what do you think?" Rebecca asked nervously. Yes, she wanted to stick to Leo because of his gummies, but at the same time, she did not want to do it for free.
"It's fine, but we will need to settle some rules. For now, let's just get all the items we can carry. When we leave, I will keep the zombies off. You push the bike." Leo wanted to get what he could, and with the help of Rebecca, he was sure he could grab even more than before. Even if they were providing for two now, it would still be more than he had thought he was going to be able to take.
While the two were gathering things back at his apartment building, a man on the first floor stood by the crack in his curtain, looking out. "Did he get eaten?"
The man looked at what little supplies he had left, feeling very nervous. "He better come back. How am I supposed to survive like this?"
He had seen Leo leaving early this morning. He hoped when Leo got back, he could threaten him into giving him most of his items. This way, he would not need to go out himself. After all, he was just a skin and bones kid. There was no way he could go against a man much bigger than him.
The man sat at the edge of his bed, watching carefully outside. He had no lights on nor any music or even a TV going. He was trying to stay as quiet as possible since he was on the first floor. He heard his neighbors being eaten alive when this all started. The zombies crashed through their windows and attacked them. He was smart. He had noticed something wrong and quickly turned all of his things off. Now, he was sitting in the quiet room with only the sounds of the zombies on the street to keep him company. As long as he was quiet, he could pull through.
At least, this was what he thought. But he did not realize he had been eating and drinking too much. Now, his supplies were almost out. He had worried about what he was going to do about it when he saw Leo leaving.
"Just hurry the fuck up already and bring me my food!" The man growled under his breath. Not realizing he was already starting to lose his mind.
Leo and Rebecca loaded up the bike. Rebecca placed her hands on the handlebars and pushed it forward, only to hear it squeak. She quickly stopped and stared at Leo. "We can't bring this with us! It will attract the zombies!" She yelled in a very hushed voice.
"Don't worry. It is no louder than it was when I first came here. I pushed it all the way here, after all. Just push it, and when zombies come, stop. I will deal with it." He actually needed the zombies to come! He needed more zombie gummies. He only had four left.
Rebecca was wondering if she was making a mistake. This man was nuts! He would push a bike that made so much noise around in a zombie apocalypse!? She really did not wish to be chased by zombies again! Frowning, she said: "If I get bit, you will be my first meal."
"Haha!" Leo couldn't help but laugh, which gave him a cold stare. And also attracted a zombie over to him, which he quickly beheaded with this sword. His moves were very practiced, as if he had been killing zombies for years. When Rebecca saw this, she understood why he was not afraid to push this bike.
"What's that?" Rebecca saw something familiar on the ground.
"That is a zombie gummy." Leo picked it up and stuck it into his inventory. When Rebecca saw it disappear, her eyes widened. "What? Where did it go?"
"I will explain more later. Since we are teaming up, you will need to know." Leo had already exposed that he had zombie gummies, so there was no other way around it. He would have to tell her everything.
"You are too trusting." Nora snorted.
"It's not like I have a choice. We will be working together from now on. Do you expect me to lie?" Leo had no way to lie. There was nothing he could say or do about it.
"I know, but…." Nora disliked the fact that Leo was already bringing another person in on his trip through the apocalypse.
"Who are you talking to?" Rebecca began to wonder if Leo was actually insane or not.
"I will explain that as well." Leo forgot others could not see Nora. In fact, he was happy they couldn't, or else he would need to explain why a mini naked girl was sitting on his shoulder. Things were less complicated if she was invisible.
Rebecca gave him a strange look, but it was too late to turn back now. If she tried to take her side of the loot, she would end up dead not long after. She could only hope this craziness of Leo's only went as far as him talking to himself. Little did she know that she would soon believe every word he said, even if he said he was a fairy godmother.
