Chapter 9 Admit Your Mistake

edit, Freya's POV

I looked at him with bewilderment. "What does this mean?"

Kingsley glanced at me impatiently. "It's from a client. I have no use for it."

A memory surged within me: last year, someone else had gifted him a pair of expensive cat's eye earrings. Kingsley had tossed them to me, and I had been elated, cherishing them so much that I lost them at a party, causing me days of heartache and earning Kingsley's mocking disdain.

Little did he know that I treasured them because they were his gift to me.

Now, reflecting on it, those earrings were merely a discardable possession to Kingsley—something he had casually given away without a second thought.

I closed the box and handed it back to him. "Let's divide our belongings after we reject each other, so I won't need to take it back."
