Kevin finally walked over to mother and son with peace of mind, gently embracing the still trembling woman. His eyes softened as he reproached himself, "I deserve to die for having put you in danger again."
Charlotte looked at him, shook her head, "I'm not afraid because I know you would come to save us."
Kevin gently wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes, and their son, sandwiched in between them, looked up and asked, "Daddy, can we go home now?"
Kevin smiled at his son, "Soon."
As he looked down, he saw that Charlotte's feet were still bound, his smile fading, replaced by a chilling seriousness.
"Daddy, is this for me?" Ethan suddenly noticed the remote-controlled plane in his father's hand.
Kevin put away the coldness and passed the plane to his son, "Hold on to it for now, Daddy will teach you how to play with it later."
Ethan nodded happily and went off to play with the plane.
