Chapter 52: A Fall From Grace

After leaving the park, Arthur followed in his car. Ella hailed a taxi and didn't go anywhere else; she went straight back to the Jefferson estate.

The trip was peaceful.

Arthur was fairly relieved. His seldom-used black Bugatti parked not far from the gate of the Jefferson house. He sat patiently inside the car, meditating with his eyes closed.

An hour later, Dilbert called, "Arthur, I've mobilized a hundred people to turn the Central Lawn upside down, and all we've found are crumbs of snacks... There's a surprising find: a small red plastic hairpin. But it doesn't seem to be Miss Ella's; it looks like a child's toy... Do you want us to continue the search?"

Given Arthur's stern nature of never giving up until he reaches his goal, Dilbert had a hunch in his heart that the search would continue, even into the night.

However, Arthur was unpredictable, playing by his own rules.

"End it there," he boomed, definitive and direct.
