But, Arthur didn't come. How was she supposed to get home?

She had no option but to catch a bus.

If she had known earlier, she would have cooperated with the leaders and journalists, allowed them to interview her clueless mom at home, and taken a free ride in their car. By now, she ought to be home.

All thanks to that lousy Arthur Lindsey, who didn't want to reveal her home address and didn't even come to pick her up.

She tightened her hold on her backpack straps and walked towards the bus stop at the east gate of the school, facing the rosy sunset.

Pupils passing by recognized her and started whispering enviously:

"Look, that's Ella Lacey, the fresh humanities top scholar."

"She's really pretty."

"Such beauty and intelligence, I wish I could be like her..."
