"Dion, do you think you can ever win against her?" Meghan joked.

"Aunt Saunders, I am timid," Dion quickly protected Ellen Williams, pretending to be vulnerable.

"You, a teacher, might get disciplined in your own room," Molly Landon joined in making jokes about the couple.

"Aunt Landon, are you going to make fun of me too?"

"All right. Weren't you going to show Ellen your room? Go ahead. Terry will be home soon; I'll call out for you then," Monica Baldwin said to Dion.

Dion nodded, realizing his mother truly understood him, and then, holding Ellen's hand, led her up to the second floor, into his room, and closed the door behind them.

"What's wrong?"

"Don't you feel like you're treading on the ground of gossip?" Dion took Ellen in his arms and gently pressed his nose against hers.

"Hey! This is your home." Ellen's face turned red.

"Aren't we all adults here? Is there something you don't understand?" Dion kissed Ellen on her thin lips, lightly biting them.
