Chapter 1257: Seeing the Rival Emerge from the Beloved's Bedroom

But that wasn't the point.

Nathaniel York evidently hadn't rested well and was still irritable from waking up. His tone was unfriendly as he asked, "What is it so early in the morning?"

Thomas responded mechanically, "I... I... called... Milly to go... to Scarlett's... bedroom to eat... breakfast."

Nathaniel York nodded, "Thanks, I'll be there in a bit."

He said it so matter-of-factly, as if a husband was deciding something for his wife, it was that natural.

Thomas murmured, "You're... welcome."

At that moment, Thomas's brain was empty, he had no idea how to react.

The door closed, and Thomas heard Matilda Jenkins's voice.

"Who was knocking?"

Matilda's voice was a bit hoarse and soft, carrying the unique sultriness of a girl which Thomas had never heard before.

Nathaniel York said, "It's for breakfast."

"Breakfast, then I must get up quickly. It's all your fault, making me get up late today."
