Chapter 13: Don't You Want to Hug Me?

She watched as Mo Chen finished his meal, and then the nanny came up to clear the tray and left.

She also watched Mo Chen work for three hours, until she became sleepy herself.

Mo Chen glanced up at her, his voice deep and indifferent, "If you're sleepy, go to sleep."

"If you sleep, I will sleep; if you don't sleep, I won't either."

The man's fingertips, which had been tapping on the keyboard, paused, followed by a scoff, "What if I decide not to sleep tonight?"

Qiao Ruoxin propped her right hand under her chin, her expressive eyes spinning, "Then I won't sleep either, to keep you company."

Mo Chen's gaze returned to the computer screen, a hint of mockery surfacing in his pitch-black eyes, "He treats you badly, so you came back to me."

A smile froze on Qiao Ruoxin's face, panic creeping into her eyes.

"I have no relationship with him; he's just the son of my stepfather, that's all."

The man behind the desk remained silent for a long time, the computer screen went black, and then he suddenly closed the laptop.

He rose from his seat and left the study without paying her any attention.

She sat there, forlorn and heartbroken.

The next second, Qiao Ruoxin stood up and left the study to find him.

In the hallway.

Mo Chen's tall and aloof figure walked towards the master bedroom, surrounded by a heavy sense of aggression.

Suddenly, his voice came from behind him.

"Mo Chen!"

The man halted in his tracks but did not turn around. Instead, he closed his eyes, his handsome face tensed as if he were enduring something.

Qiao Ruoxin moved to stand in front of him, tilting her chin up slightly to look at his handsome features.

"You seem to have grown taller..." she murmured softly.

After two years, this was the first time she had been this close to him, having forgotten what it was like to stand in front of him before.

After all, Mo Chen wouldn't let her just stand there in the past; he would have held her and kissed her upon seeing her.

Mo Chen opened his eyes and let out a laugh, one filled with disdain.

Her voice sounded somewhat pitiful, "Don't you want to hug me? You haven't hugged me for a long time."

The man's burning gaze fixed on her, and the air was so quiet that not even a whisper could be heard.

Qiao Ruoxin slowly moved forward and opened her slender arms.

Carefully, she hugged the man's waist and rested her cheek against his chest, listening to his strong and steady heartbeat.

The scene was beautiful, like a frame from a comic book. The man was handsome and tall, with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs, though his handsome face was so cold it could freeze.

Mo Chen looked down at her delicate profile, as if he, ensconced in an ice pond for a thousand years, was slowly melting away.

He lifted his arms and somewhat stiffly embraced the woman in his arms.

But in that instant, many memories from the past flooded his mind, causing him to frown and feel an intense headache.

Two years ago...

He had waited in the cold snow all night, only to have a strange man bring Qiao Ruoxin home, wrapped in the man's jacket.

He beat that man brutally, blood was everywhere in the snow, and yet Qiao Ruoxin cried and stopped him.

He was almost in disbelief, never having thought that Little Ghost would betray him.

He waited for Qiao Ruoxin's explanation, only to receive a perfunctory text message breaking up with him, and then she disappeared from the Human World.

Mo Chen's face changed dramatically, the pain rushed to his heart, and his breathing began to be erratic.

That car accident... he was trapped in the mountains for two days and a night, feeling like he was about to die, but he wasn't willing to give up!

His woman had dumped him like throwing away trash!

All the memories crashed into his mind, causing chaos!

His head felt like it was about to explode, and the feeling of nausea started to churn again.

Mo Chen roughly pushed away the woman in his arms, stormed into the bedroom, and slammed the door shut.

Qiao Ruoxin was thrown against the hallway wall, the pain causing her to furrow her brow.

She slowly stood up straight, walked to the bedroom door, and then heard a faint sound of running water.
