Chapter 114: Playing The Mad Fool

Lady Nimda never considered herself to lose.

No one truly understood the structure of the upper class. She could command one person to make a choice, and then all the subordinates of that person would follow suit. Simultaneously, the people managed by those subordinates and their families, friends, and neighbors would all follow along. A massive force could be assembled so simply.

Because the weak needed to attach themselves to the strong.

And she, Nimda, was the highest-ranking member of the El family today. She held the highest status and the most power, possessed the honor of the El family, and was the beacon of hope for them.

This director of the Kandor City Real Estate Housing Management Bureau was suddenly under the scrutiny of many eyes, and his scalp tingled.

Even when he had shamelessly performed at the El family's banquet, he hadn't felt this kind of pressure.

Sweat dripped from this Director Wilf's forehead, and he anxiously glanced around. He looked as agitated as ants on a hot plate, hesitating, and struggling to speak.

In contrast, Lady Nimda remained composed and graceful. With her hands lightly resting on her waist, she exuded an air of elegance and confidence.

The power of the upper-class families on Krypton far exceeded the imagination of these lower-class individuals.

How could they resist the commands of the El family?

"I choose the God H'el!" Director Wilf gritted his teeth, his gaze suddenly fierce as he shouted.

He wasn't a fool who had fallen for the glitz and glamour of the upper class. He had known from the start that choosing the El family would be a dead end.

Were there even two options?

No.

There was only one option!

Director Wilf was skilled at reading people's hearts. By observing the various actions taken by Jor-El in the documentary, he knew that the broadcaster had a vendetta against Jor-El. They wanted to bring down the once-great scientist of the century, who had fallen from grace, and make everyone hate him, tear him apart, and destroy everything about him, including the El family.

In this political decision-making process, only those who made the right choice would survive and emerge victorious.

His concern was that the El family might have means to counteract their choice. After all, the El family had a formidable reputation on Krypton and had always been a nightmare and a source of hope for many lower and middle-class citizens.

For a long time, the honor and reputation of the El family had left a lingering fear and subservience in Director Wilf's heart. It took tremendous determination for him to break free from the humiliation and constraints imposed by the El family and declare his choice for H'el.

If this were a play orchestrated by the El family, then good! By stating his true choice from the depths of his heart, he hoped that the El family's upper-class members, who aimed to destroy him, would lose.

Director Wilf stood silently in place, lost in thought.

"What are you saying?!" Lady Nimda could hardly believe what she was hearing. Her usually elegant demeanor turned into shock. She stared wide-eyed, completely taken aback.

"I'm asking you! What are you saying?!" Lady Nimda's voice became sharp as she angrily questioned him. "Have you forgotten the help the El family provided you with? Without the El family's assistance, could you have ever taken the position of Director of the Kandor City Real Estate Housing Management Bureau?"

Director Wilf stood his ground, enduring Nimda's condescending tone. His plump body trembled, fists clenched tightly, his eyes filled with rage. He breathed heavily, releasing an infuriated breath. In an instant, he erupted like a volcano, roaring, "Enough! You upper-class people and your arrogance!"

"Do you think I need to dress up in gaudy outfits and sing songs praising the El family at your damn banquet just to curry favor with an old hag like you to get the position that rightfully belongs to me?!"

"I have exceptional talent that should allow me to fairly, justly, and openly take the position of Director of the Kandor City Real Estate Housing Management Bureau. But I couldn't get it!"

"I possess talent and ability! I'm not afraid of fair competition, and I'm not afraid to compete against anyone. In this field, no one is more outstanding than me, yet I couldn't secure this position! Why?!!!"

Director Wilf's face turned crimson with rage, his fat jiggling as he shouted in indignation, his eyes burning like embers in his reddened face. It was an outburst of humiliation and frustration.

In an instant, many high-ranking officials from Kandor City felt a chill run down their spines.

Some officials who had once believed that they needed flattery and subservience to climb the ranks, despite their talents and ideals, had dark expressions. Their eyes were filled with anger as they looked at their superiors and colleagues from various families.

Suddenly, the entire square seemed like it was on the brink of a volcanic eruption. Hostile and resentful gazes, filled with murderous intent, swept across the many officials who held high positions in Kandor City.

Lady Nimda was so furious that she lost her composure. She pointed her trembling finger at Director Wilf, who had betrayed the El family, and viciously shouted, "You ungrateful creature, dare to speak loudly to me?!"

"Very well, very well! Do you think the El family needs you, another treacherous hound? You and H'el are both heartless traitors!" Lady Nimda's chest heaved as her eyes burned with anger. She shouted at the crowd in the square, "Dolph-El, come out."

A middle-aged man with an air of refinement and a touch of artistic temperament, dressed in luxurious El family attire adorned with the S family emblem symbolizing the El family, stepped out from the crowd.

Dolph-El had joined the El family due to his outstanding abilities and shared interests. Additionally, because he was already using the El surname, the El family had directly arranged for him to become the Deputy Mayor of Kandor City, giving him real power over the city's economy and livelihood.

Dolph-El's face remained composed as he glanced at Director Wilf, who was shaking with anger, and Lady Nimda, who was consumed by unwarranted confidence.

"Lady Nimda," Dolph-El said in a deep voice.

"What did you call me?!" Nimda still couldn't believe it, suspecting that she had misheard. In the past, Dolph-El had always addressed her in a soft and gentle manner.

But now he called her Lady Nimda in such a casual way?

"Lady Nimda," Dolph-El repeated in a firm tone.

Lady Nimda couldn't accept this. She clutched her chest, staggered backward, and shook her head frantically, as if trying to shake off this disrespectful address. "I'm not Lady Nimda. I'm your respected grandmother!"

She shook her head wildly, refusing to accept the reality. Her disheveled hair framed her wide-open eyes as she pointed towards H'el in the sky and burst into laughter.

"Haha, I knew it! Everything is H'el's conspiracy. Do you think that a few people can defeat my El family? Naïve, simply too naïve."

"Do you want to play the mad fool? I'll make you despair."

H'el looked down expressionlessly and gestured with his hand.

He wouldn't allow Nimda to deceive anyone. Past events on Krypton needed to be addressed. He couldn't tolerate bringing these issues into the New Krypton he was building. Everything needed to be resolved.

Suddenly, two metallic buttons, one red and one blue, rose from under everyone's feet.

"I will make you see the reality. Please choose:

Red represents supporting Nimda and restoring the Krypton Council system.

Blue represents supporting me, letting me create a new Krypton, and starting anew."
