Chapter 198: Steppenwolf

Earth.

Metropolis, S.T.A.R. Laboratory.

Silas Stone's eyes revealed deep fatigue, his forehead creased with wrinkles, and his short hair had not been washed since he was critically injured, with dandruff falling onto the shoulders of his white coat as he moved.

He looked down at the technological data constructed by Cyborg, a deep sense of helplessness and despair evident in his eyes.

Unable to save his own son, he was trapped in self-blame, guilt, and remorse.

He was Cyborg's father, a scientist at the S.T.A.R. Laboratory, always sitting behind Cyborg supporting his work. Every time Cyborg's heroism resulted in damage to his body, it was Silas Stone who repaired and strengthened him.

But not this time.

After being half-bodied by the Emperor of Krypton, Cyborg's body was still stable.

But for some reason, a few days ago, when the Earth satellites collectively malfunctioned and could not detect conditions in outer space, Cyborg suddenly had a rejection reaction to the newly integrated mechanical body, and the Mother Box had an abnormal reaction, which Cyborg's willpower struggled to suppress.

"Professor, Victor's body is starting to react abnormally, and the spacetime quantum is starting to warp abnormally. Victor can't hold on much longer," Silas Stone's assistant, Ryan Choi, rushed into Silas Stone's office, urgently informing him.

Silas Stone's deeply sunken dark circles couldn't help but reveal a tense inner anxiety, and together with Ryan Choi, he hurried to Cyborg's lab.

When they arrived, Cyborg was already screaming in pain, half of his face twisted with dense veins, his eyes filled with agony, and the electronic eye in his left eye socket flashing dangerous warnings frantically.

His upper body was suspended, and invisible particles began to swirl around him.

This scene was familiar to all the researchers present.

When the Justice League was founded, the boom tube opened by Apokolips was like a tornado rolling up particle reactions.

"Activate the stable spacetime particle device," Silas Stone quickly and nervously began to arrange, "distort the gravitational field, don't let it form a gravitational channel, collapse the space."

"Victor, hold on, don't give up, don't let electronic information interfere with your thoughts, focus, imagine a point, imagine it's yourself, Victor!! Victor!!"

Silas Stone shouted loudly at his son, tears uncontrollably streaming from his eyes as he continuously comforted Cyborg and arranged for the researchers' next steps.

"Professor, the stable spacetime particle device has overloaded and failed, exceeding the device's limit."

"The distortion of the gravitational field has failed, and the Mother Box molecules inside Victor's body are starting to interfere with the gravitational field. Our device is ineffective against it."

"The boom tube is opening!"

Many staff and researchers couldn't help but recall the devastating scene of the Apokolips invasion a year ago.

The ubiquitous insect-like demons, various large-sized demons, and the giant axe of Steppenwolf that could split cities.

In this situation where the Justice League had been defeated and there had already been a Kryptonian invasion of Earth, the invasion of another extraterrestrial force was impending.

Is there still hope for Earth?

Cyborg's involuntary upper body floated, his eyes filled with pain and regret as he looked at his father, Silas Stone.

"Victor, hold on, you can do it, you can control it!" Silas Stone's bloodshot eyes filled with tears as he desperately urged Victor to hold on.

If he could, he would willingly bear all of this for his son.

"Fa...ther..."

Victor's brain was filled with information beyond his comprehension, his thoughts like strings constantly being broken. Slowly calling out to his father, he glanced at Silas Stone as if trying to engrave his father's image into his mind. Finally, the last string snapped, his eyes rolled back, and he lost consciousness uncontrollably.

The tornado formed by the particle reaction around him grew stronger, the white tornado began to sweep up all the surrounding papers and small objects, and the white coat kept fluttering.

Silas Stone, seeing this scene, fell to the ground in despair and helplessness, his eyes blurred and almost fainting.

"Everyone, leave this place!"

Ryan Choi quickly arranged for the staff to leave the laboratory, sounding the laboratory's danger warning and notifying everyone to evacuate. He then approached Silas Stone.

No matter how he called out, Silas Stone didn't respond, just continuously shedding tears, staring weakly at Cyborg surrounded by the white tornado.

"Professor, it's not safe here. We need to leave. Victor's will is within the Mother Box, and there may be a chance for him to return in the future."

Helplessly, Ryan Choi spoke comforting words he didn't even believe himself, then helped Silas Stone up, supporting him on his shoulder, and pulled him away from the laboratory.

*Boom!*

The boom tube portal whirled with frantic particle vibrations, tearing up the surrounding papers and instruments, swirling crazily around the center. With a deafening noise, it opened a passage to the Apokolips.

All instruments flew against the walls, crashing heavily into them and embedding themselves.

Steppenwolf, with its towering figure and protruding thick horns, appeared at the eye of the storm, looking down and grinning fiercely.

"DeSaad, well done! Notify my legion!!"

"I, Steppenwolf, have returned to this planet that caused my failure! Hahaha!!!"

With a leap, Steppenwolf jumped down from the boom tube, wearing a tight-fitting metallic silver bio-armor. The armor pieces moved like scales being waved, constantly flexing as he stepped on the ground of the S.T.A.R. laboratory, slightly bending his knees.

Raising his hand, his axe appeared in his grip, its bloody blade emitting a dark red glow.

"Kryptonian, your end has come!"

He lifted his head arrogantly, sneering as he looked around, seeing the chaotic scenes of Earth, reminiscent of the failure a year ago.

He had actually been driven back into the boom tube by a Kryptonian refugee and an Earthling, forced to retreat. What a humiliation.

By opening the boom tube this time, he had prepared to make the Kryptonians deeply understand how fragile they were. He had modified his axe to specially deal with Kryptonians. With one swing, except for being split in half and killed, the Kryptonians had no other choice.

"Hmm?"

Steppenwolf's gaze pierced through the buildings, seeing a giant protective magic barrier in the Earth's space, sensing the familiar divine magic, and couldn't help but be puzzled.

"Is this the planet where those weak gods slumbered?"
