"You're going to get sick if you let the cold rain touch you," a harsh, yet worried voice suddenly sounded behind her.
Daisy opened her eyes as she felt the warmth of a cloth draped around her shoulders. She tilted her head to the side, clutching the animal cloak Leif had warmed beside the fire, and responded with an embarrassed smile, "You worry too much, Leif."
Leif turned away from her and said in a taut tone, "I am not worried about you. I just don't want a female dying in my cave."
Daisy pursed her lips, trying to control her chuckle. After their brief interaction last night, she realized that while Leif might appear cold and distant on the outside, he was actually a kind person who cared for strangers like her.
"Thank you, Leif." She whispered with a small smile. "By any chance, do you have any idea of when the rain might stop?" A cold breeze blew through the cave, and she asked as she wrapped the cloak around her shoulders.
Leif moved indiscernibly in his place, shielding her from the incoming cold wind.
He looked at the sky and saw the seemingly endless dark clouds, continuously sending heavy raindrops. It seemed like there was no sign of the rain stopping anytime soon.
"It might take a day or two for the rain to completely stop, and considering that the season for the rivers to be filled up is nearing, it might take a few more days," he stated calmly, his eyes briefly shining with joy.
He had been thinking of an excuse to keep the little female with him for a few more days, and the rain had given him just that. Even though he had promised to send her to a village, he was extremely unwilling to let her go.
He could use these days to get closer to her and make her agree to be his mate!
While Leif was in a good mood, Daisy was dazed by the bad news. She didn't expect the weather to be much worse than she initially thought.
"It's okay, atleast I'm safe here." She weakly mumbled, taking a deep breath and glancing at the dark clouds. She was glad that she got to meet Leif before it started to rain; otherwise, she would have been dying somewhere in the woods right now.
"The air is getting cold, you should get in and warm yourself," Leif suddenly said, turning to her and trying to be as gentle as possible. His father had once told him that females liked gentle beastmen, and he wanted to see if he was right.
Daisy was taken aback by his sudden change of attitude and she quickly realized that he might be feeling sorry for her.
She let out a small laugh in amusement, finding him quite cute. "Alright," she nodded.
Leif's heart skipped a beat at the sound of her silvery giggles, and he couldn't help but feel a warmth in his heart.
Noticing the disheveled hairs sticking at the top of her head, he unconsciously reached out to smoothen it, feeling the soft texture of her hair against his palm.
Her hair was unusually soft and smooth to touch, unlike the unkempt and rough hairs that most of the beastmen possessed.
He became addicted to her warm, soft scalp as he rubbed her head and loved the way her hair felt under his rough hands. He seemed to be unable to take his hands off it.
Daisy blushed and looked up at him, perplexed as to why he was suddenly stroking her hair. But since she didn't dislike it, she let him touch her hair without any complains.
She unconsciously leaned her head towards his wide hand, enjoying the comfortable sensation like a kitten addicted to its owner's strokes.
Leif couldn't help the excited smile that spread across his face as he noticed her small movement. His father was right for once!
"By the way, can I use your stone cauldron and the things in your cave? I would like to cook our breakfast today, please?" Daisy suddenly looked at him and asked, her hands clasped together with half cautiousness and eagerness.
Even though she had decided to live a fulfilling life without any restrictions, she retained the principles taught by her life experiences. Freeloading on others' kindness was something she could never do.
It took a while for Leif to respond as he found himself tongue-tied, lost in a daze of emotions as he saw her pitiful expression.
She looked so charming, the adorable expression on her face as she looked at him with those pitiful eyes. A thought occurred to him that she would look prettier with tears in those eyes.
He took a deep breath and replied gently, "You can do whatever you want here, little female." Control your emotions, Leif!
Daisy's eyes shone with happiness and she squealed in delight. Leif watched her skip inside the cave, filled with joy and he chuckled in amusement.
He dearly wished that he could spend more time with her.
He was about to head inside the cave when he noticed a flock of birds in the sky. His brows furrowed in confusion. The only time the birds beastmen leave their homes were during the mating season and winter season. So he couldn't figure out why they were in the southern region of the beastland when they usually moved East.
Especially since the mating and winter seasons were still four months away.
He clenched his fist; he did not want the female in the cave to meet any other Beastmen. What if the little female decided to leave him as soon as she saw those annoying birdies? He wouldn't allow it!
Meanwhile, in the cave, Daisy reorganized the messy items she had previously overlooked while cleaning.
Although the cave was much brighter than the night, she knew it was unsuitable for long-term living because it was always damp and cold from the waterfall outside.
She wondered how long Leif had lived in this place and if he ever thought of leaving.
