No Entry & Succubuses

"So you have never been here before?" Carlisle asked as we looked out from the ship's deck.

"Yeah…I never really got the chance to come here before." I said as I looked at the quickly approaching shore.

At the moment, we were quickly approaching Edo.

Otherwise known as Tokyo…Japan.

This was my first time ever coming here, so I was a little excited to finally be coming here.

What put the idea in my head was when we were in Portugal.

A ship from Japan was docked.

And well, that's when it hit me.

'Holy shit…I've been everywhere, America included, but never to Japan.'

Sooo, I got to know the crew a bit. Learned their language and managed to get passage for both me and Carlisle.

Who, by the way, was really enjoying this trip.

Since we had left, I had brought him to towns or cities I knew contained covens.

I myself had tried greatly to stay away from them.

But Carlisle seemed to have quite the interest in them.

As well as knowledge.

The man was like a sponge for the stuff, medical knowledge in particular.

Which I figured he would be, especially considering what I had already known about the man before, which seemed to not have changed with me being here.

In what seemed to be no time, the ship veered its way through the very crowded waters of Edo's harbor.

Docking the ship, we grabbed our belongings and stepped onto the harbor.

Thankfully, today was rather cloudy, so Carlisle didn't need to wear the large straw hat we had made for him.

Instead, we were wearing our normal European clothes.

As we were grabbing our belongings and about to head into the city proper, a large group of men came down the harbor.

As they went, the people who cluttered the dock separated to let them pass.

As they got close, I was able to see that they were all wearing swords at their waists.

But as for their clothes, they all wore kimonos with sleeveless looking jackets or vests over them. (Harori).

Quickly, they were huddled in front of us.

"Do you have a permit for being here?" The leading man said in Japanese as he shoved his hands into his sleeves.

"Uhh…permit?" I asked in confusion.

"Yes. Under Tokugawa Shogunate Law. All foreigners need a permit to enter." the man said, as he looked at both me and Carlisle.

I looked at Carlisle.

"Did you know we needed a permit?" I whispered.

He looked at me and lightly shook his head.

Turning back to the short man who looked to be in charge.

"And how exactly do we get a permit?" I asked.

"You can't. Now leave!" The man said, his voice becoming steely.

I raised a brow.

"And how are we supposed to leave?" I asked.

He raised his arm to another close by ship.

"That ship is leaving soon. Be on it." He said before turning to leave. His men followed close behind.

I turned to look at Carlisle.

"Dont." I said, raising a finger at him, as I saw his lips curl into a smile.

"well…this is quite the trip we are having." Carlisle said with a laugh.

"yeah yeah yeah." I said as I made my way towards the ship that was getting ready to leave.

[1683]

At the moment, we were passing through a town in the kingdom of Hungary, but will one day become Slovakia, on our way back to England.

We were passing through Bratislava, the largest town in this area.

Both I and Carlisle were seated on a wagon being driven by a farmer we paid from the previous town to help carry our belongings we had accumulated over the decade of travel.

Looking up at the cloudy sky, I said.

"This would be the perfect place to live for a while."

Carlisle looked up from his book.

"What do you mean?" Carlisle asked.

"It's always cloudy and would give you and the others the perfect opportunity to live normal lives out in the open." I said, as the wagon hit a rather large divot in the road.

"Uh, I don't miss this kind of travel one bit." I said as I adjusted myself.

As I continued to complain to Carlisle, who had gone back to reading his book, a flash of something caught my attention from a distance.

I snapped my head to the side to get a better look.

"Fuck!" I said, as I leaned forward to get a better look.

"What is it?" Carlisle asked, as he saw my actions.

"Look." I said, as I pointed down the busy durst road that was bustling with people.

Turning his head Carlisle looked at what I was pointing at.

"I don't see anything." He said, as he scanned the crowd of people.

"There…the blonds." I said, as I moved my finger to follow the moving trio.

Carlisle sat upright as he saw what I was pointing at.

"Vampires." Carlisle said, as he saw the perfect features of the three women.

"Yeah." I said, as I nodded my head.

Turning to look at me, Carlisle asked.

"Do you know them?"

"No." I said, turning to look at him.

"Then why such a reaction?" He asked.

"Uhm. It's because I know 'of' them." I said, turning back, to watch as the three walked down the road in our direction.

"Really?" Carlisle asked.

"Yeah. Ever wondered where the idea of succubuses came from." I asked.

"Not exactly. But I'm assuming they have something to do with it." He asked.

"Yes. I know the way they feed is by luring men in with their looks. Then in the throws of passion they strike."

Carlisle raised a brow.

"I see."

Then before I knew what was happening, Carlisle was jumping from the back of the wagon.

"Carlisle. What are you doing?" I yell-whispered.

But he didn't even look at me, as he approached them.

"Damn it." I said, as I grabbed a gold coin.

"Here, we will be right back." I said to the farmer, as I also jumped from the back of the wagon to follow Carlisle.

I quickly managed to catch up with him.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed or something?" I asked in a peeved tone.

"No. But I knew you would follow." Carlisle said cheerily.

"Uhh, the stupidity of youth." I said with a shake of the head.

"I'm over 60 now." Carlisle said, as he looked at me.

"And? I'm nearly seven thousand years old. You're not even a speck of dust on the age scale." I said, as the denalis finally caught sight of us.

All three of them came to abrupt halts, as they saw us.

All three of them had their golden blonde hair on display, and were wearing dark brown cloaks around them.

"Hello." Carlisle said in a normal tone, even though we stood at most 10 feet apart.

Not one of them moved a muscle as they looked us over as well.

It was clear neither I or Carlisle were regular humans.

Carlisle, pale, with perfect looking features was clearly a vampire.

While I on the other hand was more then likely…strange to them.

Let alone my hair, I also had the same perfect features as a vampire. I also stood out because I wasn't pale, and I'm sure I had a scent they could smell, telling them I was 'human'.

"We don't want trouble." I said, stepping slightly in front of Carlisle. "We are just passing through." I said in their native language.
