Time for that talk.

Over the past few weeks, our lives had taken on a sort of rhythm.

In the morning, I would have breakfast cooked by Esme, who seemed to find great joy in the simple task.

Then from there, we would spend the days chatting, or going out for errands.

I figured why not, and bought myself a car to get around, and a good number of suits.

In the evening, Carlisle and Esme would go out for a hunt, while I went out to the diner to see Evelyn.

After returning home, I would meet up with Carlisle and Esme.

Carlisle would normally be getting ready for the night shift at the hospital.

This night was no different.

I was laying on my bed, staring up at the ceiling replaying the night over in my head.

Then I heard someone knock on the front door.

My eyes popped open.

Since I had been here, there had only been one person to knock on the door before, and that was the girl from the front desk.

And I didnt have anything planned to be delivered this time.

I sprang to my feet, happy I had yet to fully undress for the night.

So, with my fancy white shirt slightly disheveled, and my black tight fitting pants still held up with suspenders, I made my way towards the front door, while shuffling along in light pink slippers.

Reaching the door, I was greeted with both Carlisle, who was in his usual outfit he wore as a doctor, and Esme, who was in a knee length dress, both fighting over the peep hole.

"Are you two gonna keep fighting over quick glances through that, or just open the door?" I asked light heartedly, knowing from their reactions who it was behind the door.

They both looked at me at vampiric speed then at each other.

Opening the door, Carlisle smiled at the young man who stood on the other side.

"Edward…it's good to see you." Carlisle said, his emotions clear to hear.

Jostling Carlisle to the side, Esme stepped forward where Carlisle had been standing.

She didn't say anything, and neither did Edward.

I'm sure his shrewd words played through his mind as they embraced from the last time we spoke.

Edward looked drawn and tired. His eyes were dark brown, clear that hadn't fed in some time.

Separating, Esme looked up at Edward, her eyes full of love and kindness.

"It's good to see you again." Esme said, her grip tightening on Edward's arms as she looked him over.

"It is good to see you as well, Esme…Carlisle." Edward said, looking at both of them as he said their names.

Then, turning his head, he saw me.

I stood just behind Esme and Carlisle, my hands in my pockets.

"So…you decided to come and talk?" I asked, keeping my tone neutral.

Edward's eyes flickered with a mixture of exhaustion and vulnerability as he met mine. The silence between us was heavy, laden with unspoken words and unaddressed words.

The weight of our last encounter pressed down on us like an invisible shroud, but I could sense the flicker of resolve in his gaze.

"Yes," Edward finally replied, his voice a mere whisper, barely audible.

"I've thought about what you said, Adam. About facing my past." He paused, as if searching for the right words, his eyes momentarily drifting away before locking back onto mine with an intensity that could pierce through steel. "I can't keep running. But I don't know if I will be able to stop."

Esme's grip on Edward's arms softened, her touch tender and reassuring. "You don't have to do this alone, Edward," she said warmly, her voice imbued with a maternal strength that seemed to envelop him. "We are here for you, now and always."

Carlisle nodded in agreement, his expression one of unwavering support while he placed a comforting hand on Edward's shoulder. "We'll help you through this, son. Every step of the way."

We went silent for a moment.

"I think it's time me and Edward go have the rest of that talk now." I said, clapping my hands together to dispel the air of emotion that was filling the entrance.

"Carlisle, you have work to get to as well." I said, raising one of my brows.

Carlisle looked down at his wrist watch, then back at me.

"I can take the night off."

I shook my head with a small chuckle.

"There's no need. This is a conversation just between me and Edward."

He glanced at Edward, who subtly nodded his head.

Carlisle nodded his head.

"Very well." He said, looking at Edward.

Putting a hand on Edward's shoulder, Carlisle smiled at him.

"I hope you stay, Edward. But I will also understand if you feel that this kind of life isn't for you."

Edward nodded his head. "Thank you, Carlisle."

Patting his shoulder, Carlisle started to make his way to the end of the hall and to the elevator.

Turning away from Carlisle and back to look at us, Edward stood there awkwardly.

"Well don't just stand there, come on in." Esme said, moving the conversation along.

Stepping back, I let them walk by me, Edward staring at me as he passed.

I couldn't read what it was I saw in his eyes.

Maybe it was confusion.

"I'm going to get dressed." I said, turning to walk down the hall to my room.

As I went, I listened to the conversation Esme and Edward were having.

Esme didn't ask Edward about what he had been up to since he had left some three months ago.

Instead, she talked about how good it was to have him back, and about how she had dusted his room every day.

But like a rain cloud, Edward just had to rain on Esme's parade.

"I still haven't decided if i'm going to be staying here." He said, his voice neutral.

Their conversation went silent.

'Moody little shit!' I thought angrily as I put on looser fitting clothes that didn't cost close to three hundred bucks.

Throwing off my suit pants and suspenders, I put on a pair of worn out Levi jeans and a pair of converse.

Converse were Gym shoes at the moment, but I didn't care, they were much better than dress shoes.

For a shirt, I wore a tan colored sweatshirt.

Stepping out and into the living room, I saw Edward standing by one of the windows along the wall, while Esme kept herself busy, doing menial tasks, like fluffing the couches' pillows, to straining up the decorations across the room.

"Ready to go?" I asked Edward.

He glanced at me.

"Where?" He asked simply.

"Somewhere private." I said simply.

He glanced at Esme, then stepped away from the window and towards the door.

As he went, I turned to Esme and gave her a small smile, before I followed after Edward.
